Review: Titan Mosfet in my new Daniel Defense Built

Thanks to extra time and desire to build a big gun, I decided to go all out and with some luck I scored some Daniel Defense receiver and rails. To make it more fun, I decided to quickly order Gate Titan Mosfet which I put in a APS quick spring gearbox and a stock VFC motor.

my unboxing:

So here are my thoughts and comment on Titan mosfet:
Trigger response:
If you like to modify your gaming style, with focus on faster trigger response and the usual nice gimmick, then Titan has you covered. Over the course of the first day, I could really feel the difference in my gun, the bbs would fly out with hair trigger. During further games, I even enabled precocking to high which really took the response to the next level. Titan literally counts how many teeth the sector gear has moved to and uses it to maximize pre-cocking. The one thing I did notice, on smart pre-cocking, the first shot will not shoot any bbs, it actually pre-cocks only. It may be by design.

hair trigger:
Literally hair, slightest change in trigger is detectable. Ok may be wrong but here is how it works: there are 5 levels of trigger that it can detect. With a regular trigger, it was able to be a true hair trigger and slightest push would be registered. The distance between 1to2, 2to3, 3to4, and 4to5 is somewhat constant. I decided to go for a competition grade trigger (crusador red), that had an interesting effect: the trigger only registers up to 3, 4 if I really pull hard. To make it more sad, 0to1 is now much longer and no longer a hair trigger. I have currently no solution in mind except ADDing something to the front of the trigger itself.

battery protection:
Oh yeah, the true reason why I got interested in mosfets in the first place. During one of the last games, I did notice sudden extra vibration in my hand and I deduced the battery was dying. It was almost dead but with the limit I set for it. I believe this can increase the life span of my batteries but only time will tell.

lipo 7.4 vs 11.1:
In the semi-mode there is little to no difference if pre-cocking is enabled. The only noticeable factor I felt was the motor would get hotter with 11.1 with repetitive pulls. In burst mode the difference is obvious, 11.1 would result in a much faster and clustered bursts. I was not able to test burst mode due to game rules.

Installation:
Suprisingly, it was a lot easier than I thought. It was my first time installing it and the videos that was made by GATE team itself was more than enough for installation and trouble shoot. In case you are planning to use a gearbox that is known to have extra stuff (cough krytac cough) have a dremmel drill and sand paper ready. if you decide to reopen your gearbox, make sure to push on sector gear before lifting the top shell. I had a few instances that sector gear almost broke my unit. I opted for quick spring change gearbox as a mean to convenience during installation and not function or durability. your mileage or goals may vary.

Overall experience:
It was a big plus. At the moment I am considering to install it in rest of my guns and weighing the cost and time it takes over how often I will be using them.

Questions or concerns? hit me up and I do my best to answer them.
