an/pvs-7 model identification
So I have this pvs-7 on loan from a friend and im considering buying it from him, however I cant seem to figure out who manufactured the housing or what kind of tube is in it, im confident its a generation 3 but im not sure what contract it is or if its even an ITT tube, I think its omni IV or later as the image seems to be more yellow and supports the characteristics of the p45 phosphor but you be the judge. Im honestly just looking for any information about it, age, tube phosphor etc.

The goggles don't look like PVS-7s or any sort of variant that t know of. I suspect what you have the Dedal DVS-8 goggles:
http://en.aleksis-optics.com/?p=74 Looking at the image quality they seem to have a good tube installed and for the right price I'd get them but be aware that what your friend is selling is Russia NODs and not ITT PVS-7s. |

The housing doesn't match any AN/PVS-7s I have ever seen, the lenses are wrong too. Is there any markings on the housing anywhere? A serial number or anything?

Not a 7 or 504.
I want to say it's Russian, but it could be something else entirely, I'm no expert.

Gen 2+ euro or even a Russian tube. Unless someone opened it up at some point and put a US made inverting pvs-7 tube in there, chances are high that it is from over seas and doesn't correspond to any US omni government contract specifications.

Hey guys after some looking I think ive determined it is a DVS-8, thanks kutter. im still trying to figure out what kind of tube it has though, so far ive found that DVS-8s were produced with XD-4, XR-5 and a gen III tube, an XR5 would explain the preformance Im getting, but I was told it was a gen III tube and to my knowledge XR5 is not classified as a gen III although it has similar or better preformance
