Vfc mp5sd3
OK, so Ive bought a VFC MP5SD3 for backyard plinking. Thought Id make a thread for my questions and post my progres modding it, instead of putting it in a 4 year old thread.
So this is the beast, completely standard. Aimpoint and rail on the way. Going to fit a new barrel + hopup and try and up the FPS and accuracy. First I was pretty unhappy with the groupings, about 5cm and 8m.... Then I tried some heavier bullets - top 0.25g and bottom 0.36g. This really improved, from 16cm to 8cm (and if you remove the flier 5cm). Considering it was just doing a quick test in pretty much dark aiming at a pink post-it, Im real happy. Maybe try some 0.40 or 0.43 - and then see what happens with new barrel and hopup once I decide on what to get :-) |

Update - bought myself a chrone to keep track of improvements.
Baseline, it does 389 fps with 0.20g bullets. Will try some stronger gas soon, what I have is some Airsoft ProTechGas which says on the label its "mild"... I dont want mild, I want powerful Also got a rail from China, took a little fitting, but a 7US incl shipping Im pretty happy with it :-) |

Fitted the Azimuth steel bolt cover - so much nicer than the stock item
Had to take 0,5mm of the cylinder to make it work. |

Fitted a HK SEF triggerhousing+selector.
Had to modify the triggerpack, but its now a better fit than stock :-) On the workbench is a Crusader Steel Bolt Carrier w/ Cylinder and Azimuth Stainless Steel Bolt Head - not exactly an easy fit, but it will get there :-) |
