Thread machining in Toronto
Anyone know a good place to get my 15mm ak barrel machined down to counter clockwise 14mm threads in the gta, that wont break the bank?

Just wondering could you go to Canadian Tire and pickup a cheap tap and die set to recut the threads yourself?

Absolutely can. I got my setup there before I thought to eBay the parts for a lot less. 14x1cw die for $5?

The difficult part is getting the diameter down to 14mm. If you have a 15mm thread it might not be as difficult as no thread at all

Yup, I learned that recently in a similar topic. Just didn't know how to phrase it. The barrel would have to be turned down to accept the 14mm thread range.

Unfortunately the tap and die kits i looked at in canadian tire didnt have the correct size die. Also from my reading you can supposedly get adjustable dies in 15mm and 14mm. Cut in the 15mm threads then tighten it for another pass and so on until a 14mm die opened all the way up fits over top. Then adjust that to true 14mm and voila. Im hoping someone can recommend a good machine shop that wont charge too much for a one off piece of work.
