Game Scenarios

I'm helping to REF on a field here and find we need some decent game ideas for small groups and large ones. The fields of play are not big and some are actually small. So not a lot of room for big props or major games. At least not yet. What I need help with is some scenarios other than standard "capture the flag".

Any ideas you had fun playing or would like to try? Let me know the idea and I'll let you know how it worked out. All ideas welcomed, good ideas appreciated!

Plant the Bomb:
A game mode I played once was basically boiled down to a canister or case in the middle of the field that one team has to capture and then bring it to the ENEMY base. Think if it like a bomb, if you will. If team A captures the bomb and successfully touches the enemy base's wall, then Team A wins. If team B eliminates the other team during Team A controlling said bomb, team B wins, and vice versa.

Black Hawk Down/VIP:
If you have a small area with lots of buildings (shacks and such) then this will work too. Select one player to be the downed pilot. Said pilot only uses a pistol. His (or her) team must protect them for the duration of the game. The pilot cannot move on their own, and must be escorted by at least one other player, but cannot move more than once every five minutes, and cannot run, only walk. Enemy team must eliminate the pilot. This can also be played as a simple Eliminate the VIP game. Again, select a player on each team to act as VIP, and the enemy team must eliminate the other's VIP before the game ends or their own VIP is eliminated.

Juggernaut:

Select a player to be the Jugg! They will be in the middle of the field and neutral until a team touches them. They then operate on that team's side, but cannot move unless a friendly player is touching them. Objective could be eliminate enemy team, or get to a specific zone with the Juggernaut. Juggernaut becomes neutral when physical contact is broken with the team escort.

-

Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head there. Have fun! Hope I helped a bit.

Couple of things I play

"Alien": 20 to 25 people. Requires some identifying rags, tape or something to clearly identify the "alien" team. Two groups start at opposing ends of the field (Team A and B). A group of 5 aliens starts in the middle. When a member of A and B is hit by an alien, he joins the alien force until there are no more identifying rags left. The goal is simply for one of the 3 teams to eliminate everybody else.

Switcharoo ™: Teams A and B start at opposing ends of a field. When A hits B, B walks over to A and joins them in the fight against B. Play until an entire team is wiped out or everybody runs out of magazines. I 've personnally, in a game of 12-15 people, ended up being the last guy on B and I had only been using 2 pistols the entire time. It's tons of fun.

Switcharoo ™ variation A: Same as previous but with a twist. Reloading of magazines is allowed and players are encouraged to play at a slower pace. If game goes on for the entire length of the event, the winner is simply the team with the most players. Has not been tested.

Switcharoo ™ variation B: Same as variation A but mixed in with another type of game. For example: Swticharoo A + Battlefield Conquest. So not only do you have to capture and hold flags all over a field but your available manpower keeps shifting all the time. A true test for a commander. Has not been tested.

Cut a couple of silhouettes out of paneling or plywood ,etc. put a hole where the heart would be and tape a balloon behind the hole. Put the "VIP's " at opposite ends of the field but not near the respawns. split into 2 teams , try and defend your VIP while breaking the ballon of the enemy VIP. Note helium grade balloons require you to be close before they will break!

One game I've played that I like, Is survival. At first....everyone starts with there aeg/primary carried on their back. You start off just using pistol or shotgun, not both...which ever you have/want. You get someone neutral to plant boxes or ammo crates around the field and each team or Everyman for himself must fight there way to and find these crates. In the crates is a ribbon or necklace that once you find and wear, are able to fire your primary. If you are killed you have to drop your necklace for anyone to pick-up and then either go out of the game...or respawn.

Trouble in terrorist town:
there are lets say 8 people and out of those 8 people
5 of them are civilians
1 of them are a detective
2 of them are terrorists

You start off by handing out to everyone 1 card which should show what ur job is
For example with playing cards:

Joker - terrorist
King - Detective
Numbers - civilians

Now once everyone has their cards and know they r
everybody closes their eyes and the 2 terrorists point their thumbs up look up to see who their partner in grime is.
Then they put their thumbs down and the game begins
Everyone starts off with a pistol and there are more advanced airsoft guns spread thru out the map to use against one another.
So the objective is for the civilains and detective to find who the terrorists are and kill them
while the terrorists have to kill everyone else.

Jobs/Objectives:
Terrorist: Kill everyone

Civilian:kill the terrorist

Detective: can talk to the dead people to find out if they are a terrorist or not

Im located in missisauaga around qew, lakeshore, erin mills, clarkson area.

2 equal sized groups start. the object of the game is to capture members of the opposite team.

this is how it works,

when you are hit you fall where hit, to respawn you must be extracted out to a spawn point. If extracted by the enemy you join their team. If extracted by friendlies you rejoin the fight on the same side.

game goes on till the last person is captured.

People could switch sides several times through the game. So this is not a "tan vs green Kind of thing.

I'll chime in with a game mode that Gato showed us at Mach1 that works when you have an odd number of players and varying amounts of players on the field. I think it's called 1 down, 2 down but I dunno.

Neutral part of the field all available players group up. The ref randomly picks teams of various players to spawn down into the field. Goal is to survive as a group as long as you can. Ref continues to make random teams. If your shot head back to the neutral zone and wait to be placed in another random group.

I like it a lot because it forces you to work with random people to survive together. If you get shot you can then go after your old teammates which can be a challenge if they are dug in well. Also you can mix up the groups so experienced players get to buddy up with noobs. Overall a great game mode when you have a mash up of people who want to play.

^ That one's usually called One In, Two In, and is my favourite game at TTAC.

Traitor:

Two teams engage in a regular skirmish, the catch, one of them is a traitor and is waiting for the chance to stab you in the back.

Nothing spices things up like a decent amount of paranoia.

Had a blast with this scenario at Niagara a few years ago :P

Game is called 1 in 2 in.. I desigend the game for TTAC3 with is a small indoor space. This is best done in an indoor space or in a small field.

Works like this ... everyone lines up in the entrance to the playing area.

the ref, calls out a number of players to enter ( at TTAC3 it's usually 1 to 4 players ) they enter as a team.. and will fight everyone already in the space and everybody who comes in after them.

Once hit you return to the back of the line to be fed in as part of a new team.

This is a fast paced game and really forces people to work as a team with new people.

here is another one we do at TTAC3

Many VS Few

Take the group of players and split them into 4 equal parts

deploy 1/4th of the players into the environment .. they will work as a unit .. then a short time later Deploy the remaining players to clear the space.

That's not unlike an idea I've been coming up with, bearing in mind I've yet to play a game:

Downed Pilot Scenario

Team 1: 1-4 players.
Team 2: 5 or more players.

Team 1 loadout: Pistols only.
Team 2 loadout: Anything.

Team 1 goal: At least one survivor successfully travels from point A to point B. Kill may be required.

Team 2 goal: Stop all survivors from successfully traveling from point A to point B. Kill may be required, but capture ranks higher.

Point A = Plane (or point of discovery).
Point B = FOB.

Rules:
Directions between point A and B will be discretely marked, or general direction known (compass may help if outside).
Team 1 will not start the game with a walkthrough of the play territory.
Team 2 will start the game with a walkthrough of the play territory.

Both teams may use melee.

Scenario startout: Team 2 begins following Team 1, an undermined time after Team 1 starts. Time may be influenced by player numbers on each team, and environment (size/layout/complexity) scenario is played in.

Game time: To be agreed on prior to play. May take minutes, may take an hour. Hard corps players may want to camp out overnight to succeed.

Hint: Combat is not required from Team A in order to traverse point A to point B, and win. Hiding, sneaking, or fleeing may sometimes be wiser.

This is something that was run a few times last year.

Multiple small teams of 5 to 7 players. Each team starts at a different spawn point and its a free for all. Normal medic rules apply but if a "dead" player is touched by another team the team they are on is wiped out. The killer team starts to look for the next battle. The slain team respawns on the opposite side of the field to where they started.

The trick here was to not get sandwiched between two teams. The game evolved to a "Poker Run" with kill cards being taken from the slain player and accumulated by the killer team. Best hand wins at the end of the day.

The game promoted team work and let everyone stay in the action for the duration of the game. This is obviously for skirms only.
