Importing G&P DBAL PEQs

I wanted to get some clarification on this before I purchased one. I am considering purchasing a G&P DBAL PEQ box on ebay. But I am not sure if I can import it into Canada, whether it be due to ITAR restrictions or Canadian laws. Anyone know the 100% written in stone rules with bringing one in?

ITAR only applies to items made in the USA. G&P is Asia. Buying from the USA and having it shipped to Canada is fine. That item is not restricted in any way.

On the other hand, a real DBAL (LDI, for example), would be ITAR and would need to be imported with paperwork.

On that note the G&P DBAL is, as far as I know, not eye safe. You can only use it "for looks" but cannot fire if off during games as it can cause serious damage to the eye.

There will be no issues with this since I just got one from Ebay, also ShelledPants is correct in regards to this not falling under the ITAR restrictions.

Yeah, this is also true. Replica lasers are a big no no for games.

Do not even bring it to the field.

If you are importing the laser from China? No problems (Although Health Canada may potentially take a look at it)

If you are trying to import it from the United States? ITAR restricted.

If you are trying to use it with your Night Vision at a game? Don't.

This doesn't surprise me. ITAR is ITAR'DED.

Alright, this is why I asked this question before dropping $150 plus on it lol.

Is there a eye safe IR PEQ? Like the PEQ16? I'm pretty new to this whole laser business

There are, but they aren't cheap for a number of reasons. Expect to pay over 700 dollars, easy. :/

LDI Class 1 IR can run you 700-900 depending on the source.

what if one were to import it, reduce the output to class 1 and measured by a reputable source?
because you can reduce the output of most lasers.

Had a similar discussion a while ago - everyone just "Nah" for numerous reasons ("HOW DO WE REALLY KNOW?!?!?!?!")

Your best solution is to either

A) Buy that real shit

or

B) Buy a Class 1 diode from a reputable source, with paperwork, and potentially build your own shit... And then find additional ways to document it because your homebrew laser will come under additional scrutiny come game time.

ITAR is a US export law, not anything related to Canadian import.

the paperwork is how you would know
also, have you ever seen a class 1 laser directly compared to a 5-8mw laser through night vision? the difference is pretty substantial. given they provide paperwork its easy to check it under nvd to verify their claims.
its like the difference between a 200 lumen light and a 60 lumen light lol
