Mosfet and fuse, necessary together?
Hey guys,
Just wondering if a fuse is needed if you're installing a mosfet. I'm not going for an insane set up or anything, but please let me know if the build would dictate whether a fuse would be necessary or not. Let me know if you know and thanks in advance |

You don't need a fuse for a MOSFET because the time it takes for the fuse to open far outstrips the time it takes for you to destroy your MOSFET if you do in fact have a failure like a short.
Some MOSFETs do come with resettable thermal polyfuses which I've found are only tripped when the rated current is sustained for some time. Last edited by Stealth; December 30th, 2013 at 15:06.. |
