Prometheus Neo-Strike Chamber Mod

Hey guys, I'm looking at a prometheus hop up chamber as my stock G&G middle gear pin broke off and needs replacing. Since the gun is apart, I figured I might as well upgrade my unit, bucking and inner barrel. I've checked out the prices on several sites and it says that modification may be required for plastic AEG's. I've been researching trying to find out what mod is required but I'm not coming up with much. I did read somewhere about boring the hole of the second gear that goes on the pin as the pin on the prometheus unit is thicker. Maybe this is it, but I'm just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this.

For reference, my gun is a G&G Gr-16 r4 SPC.

There are much cheaper, more complete hop-up chambers on the market. $51 USD? Seriously??

If your stock hop-up unit is a 2-pieces design like the TM ones, you need to cut the support parts from the lower recever to clear the place for the one-piece metal part.

If your stock hop-up looks like this, you don't need to do anything:

And yes, there are a lot of cheaper options that are as good.
Now a days the Prometheus chamber is not really anything special.

If you want something nice, try to find the Prowin hop-up chamber. It does not use the "normal" M4 gear setup and uses a large adjustment ring. It's more precise and holds a setting better.

My vote goes to the Lonex chamber too, but I'll share what I had to do to modify the Prometheus:

Like you said the shaft was a little bigger than the hole on the gear that I had (that's what she said), so I had to widen the hole a bit.

The upper receiver didn't clear the chamber and I had to dremel it out so that it would fit, but that's probably due to the fact that my hop chamber originally had a different design.

Thanks a lot, that price point is DEFINITELY more appealing for a more complete unit. No need for the aforementioned modification as well?

Thanks for reply as well Kos, that is indeed what my unit looks like. However I think combining Stealth's post with KenTsui's vote on the Lonex, might end up being the best route!

Thanks for answering my question anyways Ken, it's nice to just have that knowledge on hand... kudos on a solid 'that's what she said' joke also. hahaha
