Removing Delta Ring from Ares m4e
Hey Gang,
I'm trying to change my outer barrel. I've managed to remove everything else except the base of the outer barrel that's attached to the upper receiver. I've attached some photos to Illustrate my problem. Thanks in advance. |

You could use a flat head and a hammer and poke each teeth.

Depending on how much the delta ring was torque'd, you may absolutely require a proper AR15 armorer's wrench.
Use of other tools may permanently damage your delta ring. |

Yeah, that's if you care about the delta ring.
If not just dremel it off. |

Yeah I used some pliers to take it off. It worked!.
Ill see if I can do a breakdown of this whole mess once I'm done. It's more work than what I was anticipating. The only other thing that gave me trouble was... The replacement barrel I have doesn't lock on to the upper receiver. The old one stayed in place and it was easy to tighten the delta ring. I had to wedge a key in place to keep the new outer barrel from moving while I tighten the delta ring. Is there something I'm missing here?. I also noticed that the hop-up sort of keeps the outer barrel from rotating freely. |

There are supposed to be 3 set-screws in the holes of the outerbarrel. Not to support the inner, but to fit in the slots in the receiver and prevent the rotation.
Normally, you would simply torque it very hard to keep it there (on real rifles). |

Quote:
1 - lock the barrel extension in place to prevent it from unthreading. 2 - an indexing point for the upper receiver. there is a corresponding notch cut out on a RS upper that the pin slots into, to prevent the barrel from rotating.

Yeah... mine didn't come with it. I broke a house key in half and wedged it in there. It works :-)
