S&T Tavor 21 inquiry
Saw a brand new Spartan Imports Tar21 at a local store. Liked the look and did some research on it, but nothing other than first impressions and personal opinions had been documented. I'm interested in this marker over the ARES version mainly due to price, second, weight. The S&T weighs 4.2 lbs while the Ares weighs 7 lbs. I've held the Ares, and the massive rear weight is fairly uncomfortable for a smaller player like me. Plus, I don't have $600 bucks to blow on another marker. The 'better half' would kill me. lol.
Basically, what I want to know is if ANYONE here has first hand experience using it, owns it and if it's worth the price. The store has placed it on hold for me, while I do my research. From what I know thus far, the particular model in question has the poly carbonate gearbox (yes i know they're not the best now a days) but I know there is a metal gear box version for the same price I just need to track one down. If anyone can tell me anything about it, range, accuracy, feed consistency, ANYTHING that will help me decide yay or nay would help. Thanks. ~Reaver |

It's made of shitty thin plastic shell as opposed to ARES' polymer shell. You'll save a bunch of cash initially, but after replacing the gun every time you drop it you're wallet will hurt.
Also, marker.... no... |

Poly carb gearbox is overstating it... And plastic body doesn't ween compare to the area ones. A pretty good comparison would be going to Burger King instead of moxies...

Just a quick jump into this. S&T also makes a 'professional' version which has a metal gearbox, a blowback feature, and a polymer body. I don't know if they're up here yet, but they seem to be in direct competition with ARES version for under 1/2 the price.

I thought that the first versions of the s&t tavor were that plastic and plastic gearbox. Im pretty sure they are polymer and metal gearboxes now... theres a video on youtube i watched a while back comparing it to the ares. For the price it wasnt bad, something like groove marks/ lines in the body... big woop... and i could be mistaken but it was something lile the battery compartment being bigger. I dont know...
When you ask peoples opinions on certain airsoft guns, i would only take the ones into account who've actually owned the gun or gamed it a few times...

It's a nice 'marker' (and yes, i refer to airsoft guns and paintball guns as 'markers' out of habit) and the seams being raised aren't new to me. The G&G G96 gas sniper rifle had the seams raised and i just sanded them down. Not a big deal. Thanks guys, but I just got an offer for the G&G FN2000 for $400 with a few upgrades in it. So i'll be taking that, since the F2000 is my preferred and favorite rifle. Still, might think about picking it up anyway.... But the one the company has IS the plastic gearbox version...

Like I said, force of habit from paintball. For some reason it feels weird for me to say 'gun' in reference to airsoft when I know it isn't a real firearm. Idk it's just me lol.
