JG M4 S-System upgrade
I am planning on grabbing a JG M4, but my main concern is the weight of the all-metal rails, plus the battery in the front. Anyone know if it is possible to re-wire the gun to store the battery in a stock, to balance it a bit?

Yes you can but you will have to open the gearbox to do it. It wont cost too much to do.
It may be posible to sneak the wires to the back through the body but your beter to do it right to avoid pinching a wire. Though the rail is prety short so it wont be too front heavy. Or you can go to a jg 416 for the same price and its alrdy rear wired to a crane stock.

You could youll also have to buy a stock to go with it.
For 10 bucks less then the s system you can get the 416 (i personally like the look of the 416 better the ssystem is kinda cluncky at the front) You wont have to buy a stock or pay for a rewire (also going through them tbey will likely make you buy a rearwire kit not just solder on new wires) And in the end youll wind up with almost the same gun (nicer imo) And youll save prolly 100 bucks

Hectic is giving you very good advice, battery in crane stock would balance the rifle better and the 416 very long rails
Have you considered Ares with their quick change spring? You can change your velocity under 5 minutes if you plan on using the rifle for both indoor and outdoor.

The main reason I was looking at the S-System was because I like the look and stats, and I far prefer M4s with RIS. Plus, I wont drop over $300 on a gun (before upgrade). The 416 has always just felt a tiny bit off to me. Ares is too rich for my blood.

I mean that I wont pay more than $300 for a gun, not including the money I will put into upgrades over time.

Prolly the rewire and new stock for battery. Also keep in mind youll need a different battery to go into the crane stock.
I personnaly find the ssystem too chunky in the front with short rails the 416 is more streamline and has longer rails and the hk crame stocks are really comfortable and have a unique look. Try holding them both at the store then weigh the cost of having them rewire buyin a stock and a battery and waiting for them to do the work for you

If you plan on upgrading it may be advisable to have a better base

But you said you were gonna pay for an upgrade right off the bat, are you talking about changing wire positions? If so wiring that m4 to the back would require you to get a different buttstock. You'll most likely have to pay for the re-wire and have to spend additional on the buttstock.
Just consider it, when it comes down to it, which ever feels better in your hands should be the one you get. They both come with a battery so placing the battery in the rifle shouldn't be difficult. I'd suggest buying a decent charger while you're at it, stay away from the wall charger they come with. Try a G36 too, they feel nice in my hands

Also looking at their stock they dont have any crane stocks in stock once they get one itll cost 50 bucks for a stock 30 for a battery 25 for a rearwire kit and prolly 40 50 bucks to rewire it for that kind of money you may as well just buy both guns for 50 bucks more lol

Honestly, the weight of the M4 isn't really an issue. I am a smaller build player, so the comparatively compact size of the M4 over the 416 is my main draw. I can easily handle the heft of either gun, but the reviews on the 416 cite a weaker stock, and my stocks get a good workout. I might just grab the M4, and leave it un-modded. My G36 is for CQB

The ssystem and 416 are the same length the 416 should be a lil lighter because the rail system isnt as chunky and its top rail doesnt run the full length of the upper reciver the front set is even to the top instead.
Also as far as weight they are both plastic bodied so they are both very light and being m4s they are easy to cary due to the way the weight is distributed. Im a small guy too 5ft7 135lb pasty white guy lol carying my steel and wood ak with grenade launcher on the front is heavy my 416 and stag15 with 12inch front rail (mfr12) are super light compared to the ak. My mp5k pdw is heavyer then the 416 and stag 15 and its half the size As for the stocks. They 416 stock is sturdier then the standard LE type stock on the m4 and the reciver and buffer tube are the same and thats where the strength is as far as breaking or anything.
