Recommended piston for Cyma M14 V7
I'm looking for a new piston.
Does anyone know what the maximum limit of metal teeth on a piston is for a v7 cyma m14 gearbox is? I hear if there are too many, they'll conflict with the gears. I'm getting a LOT of mixed answers online and many different opinions on pistons and the amount of teeth. So far I've gathered that it shouldn't be all steel, and less than 6 teeth. Any help would be appreciated. Any recommendations from a Canadian store would be great! p.s. has anyone heard anything about Wii Tech and if they're a good brand? - they seem new to me. Airsoft depot offers pistons by them. Last edited by -Shade; March 5th, 2013 at 15:59.. |

Have you read this lovely article I wrote?
http://www.airsoftstore.ca/index.php...page=page&id=5 All pistons have 15 teeth unless you run an elongated gearbox (SR25 or PSG1). How many of those teeth should be metal? Depends on what your performance goals are. A lot of our customers have had really good success with the Lonex Extreme Toughness piston - MADDOG runs his fairly hard (something to the tune of 450fps at 30rps) Others have also liked the SHS 15T piston - I think MaciekA ran one for all of last season at 400fps and also something in the neighbourhood of 30rps) We've run and have seen guns ranging from 350fps all the way up to 550fps running those 2 pistons so between those 2 choices, I don't bother with anything else. Don't know much about wii-tech but if they are as good as the SHS pistons then they should be okay. Last edited by Stealth; March 5th, 2013 at 16:06.. |

Thank you for the input and the article - it was very informative! Sadly I run guarder gears and they aren't compatible with the pistons offered on your site The full metal rack also doesn't work with the v7 gearboxes.
The M14 can be such a pain sometimes :P |

Pretty sure your CYMA M14 (TM clone) takes any standard piston...
The whole Guarder gears however is a different story. Try the SHS 15T piston. |

I believe what I read before was talking about the v7 gears getting stuck on the extra plastic used to hold/slide the metal piece.
If you've seen that SHS work with a tm clone before, then I'll go for the SHS on your site. The other problem is that I don't have access to a tool to file down the metal to correct the AoE - if I were to order from airsoft parts canada, would they be able to shave down the second tooth as recommended and a bit of the third as well for me? Or is it more complicated than that? I figured I'd just use the sorbo pads I ordered from you guys to correct it if it was filed down. Last edited by -Shade; March 5th, 2013 at 17:23.. |

You should email airsoftparts to see if they would file down a piston for you.
Invest in a proper set of tools. Every man should own a rotary tool. They are usually $10 or so at Canadian Tire for the JobMate one. Last edited by Stealth; March 5th, 2013 at 18:00.. |

Wow that's not expensive at all - I'm definitely going to look into that right away - Thanks.

I'll confirm the mention of my SHS 15T piston. It ran the entire season last year at over 30rps @ 400-420fps with no issues. These are very very strong pistons. Fitment issues developed somewhere mid-last year in some of the summer batches, but my inspection of the last SHS blue I saw was back to good fitment. It did smell like bleach though, which is weird.
With good AoE the lonex red seems to be good too.
