AK74 stock on an AK47
Hey guys, I've got a TM AK47 clone. The original stock was made from thin, cheap plastic and so I decided to buy a new one. I got the CYMA "frosted" ak74 stock which was advertised as being able to fit all AK models.
When I recieved the stock however, I nothing that it wouldn't fit. The stock attachment point on the AK47 was a total of 3 screws and is shapred slightly different than the ak74 stock attachment point. My question is, has anyone found a way to rig up an AK74 stock on an AK47? If so, any tips on how to go about it ? thanks |

The CYMA stock... Is it a stock for LCT/VFC clone CYMA AKs or TM clone CYMA AKs?

AKS-74M stock is meant for a receiver with a side folding stock mechanism, AKS-74u, AKS-74, Kyberpass AKM. What you have is a Type 3 AK-47 fixed stock receiver. Note the AKM and AK-74 share a different rear stock mounting system then AK-47s.
You have the Top Style Receiver. Your Stock needs the Middle type receiver. |

I have the top model reciever.
The stock I bought, (http://www.torontoairsoft.com/CYMA-A...ck_p_2449.html) is a fixed stock, not a folding one. |

The retailer said it fits ALL AK's. They were wrong and put the blame on me, so I'm not buying from there again. That being said, now that I'm stuck with something that wasn't made for an AK47 and I'm trying to get it to fit, I was just wondering if anyone had done this mod before and how they went about it.

The akm and 74 stock sits more flat ( even to the top of the reciver) the 47 isangled downwards without seeing pics of the stock and how it lines up sith the reciver you have i can only guess but id say the part that meets the reciver will need to be trimed to the correct angle and you may have to widen the slots for the mounting points and perhaps make some new holes.
That said it would be helpfull if you post some pics of the stocks end that attaches to the reciver and also show how it sits if you slide it on as much as itll go. Include a few angles of it and some close ups of areas that dont line up corrdctly. On top of that if its not a wood stock it will be harder to work with thats for sure.

I posted a link to the stock above, http://www.torontoairsoft.com/CYMA-A...ck_p_2449.html
the 3rd picture will show you how it connects. I think I'll have to bend the top prong to be straight, as described by Hectic, and shave the inside of the stock (because now it doesn't slide on at all, there are plactic grooves inside stopping it). and potentially jerry-rig it up by drilling, extra holes.... this has turned into quite the headache.... really sucks toronto airsoft wont replace it. (packageing had to be undamaged, which is impossible if you actually open the package.... stupid policy, it'll cost them this customer, who's spent aprox 800$ there in the past year or two, all over a 37$ stock, real smart business sense). /end rant. THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS (above posters)! |
