Camo Suggestions for a beginner

I'm fairly new and run this vest. Live in the Barrie area so lots of greens etc but I'm not to sure that would look good with black. Thanks in advance!

Black looks good with black. Blue or grey but those are really cqb type colours likt yer cqb type vest.
For outdoor in ontario in order from prolly cheapest to most expensive would be od green or woodland prolly the same price, us marpat/digital woodland (i think its ugly as all sin bug it works), cadpat works really well in cedars and pines, and baby puke no wait i mean multicam (looks like hell in the store or walkin down the street but as a camo i dont think there is much of anything at the moment that works so well in so many different places from greens to tans to browns to greays it prety much can blend anyplace. Its a lil to gucci for me but all the cool kids have it lol.
I use woodland myself ifs cheap its effective and its cheap oh wait i said that alrdy.
But u can get pants and top and a boonie for prolly 60 bucks at yer local surplus store. And if u shop around u can find a matching tac vest for 50 bucks or less

I have a set of Medium Flecktarn I'm looking to get rid of, check my sales thread in the Gear and Clothing section for more details (should be visible to non verified members).

But yeah, nothing really goes well with straight black. You'd have to break up the solid black with something (eg. take a rattlecan to it and paint stripes or something). The Nazis actually figured this out in WWII that even in the dead of night that navy blue or dark blue blends in better naturally than black. Reason being is that if there's even a tiny amount of light (eg. from the moon) black stands out way more than dark/navy blue.

I'll try to find some reference pictures for you.

Note that the reason SWAT teams wear all black is because it's "meanacing" and when they're called it's usually for short aggressive CQC engagements where they're kicking down doors, throwing bangers and rescuing hostages or whatever.

be careful because traditionnally multicam is reserved for bears and flaming homos

Everything looks good with black, but nothing blends with black.
Now, for the camo, find a pattern you like, check if it works on your area and in the games (Usually it's Green vs Tan variants, or close to that).

Personally, I prefer TAN to Green variants, but don't want to stand out too much, so I'm opting for A-tacs AU.

Everything's pretty much already been said; Black is primarily used by SWAT/Police Tactical Units, so unless you're going for that, ditch the black vest. See if you can trade it for a CB/OD/RG one.

IF you really like your black, I guess you could use American Desert Night Vision Camo, but the pattern was only experimental, never widely issued, nor very effective. You'd look amazingly badass and unique as all hell (Camo Hipster?), but you'd still stick out.

Yeah.

Seeing as how you live in Barrie, too, which like you said has lots of greens, your best bet would be to go with a green-dominant camo, such as CADPAT, Flecktarn (Remember to PM L473ncy if you want that!), or even Swedish M88. Do a bit of a Google and I'm sure you can come up with a lot of stuff.

Hell, I run Chinese Type 07 Universal, which is Gray/Black/Pine Green/Brown and that works great in the woods I play in. It all comes down to preference and practicality.

I agree, ditch the rig as black will not avail you in the field. Avoid any extreme camouflages like Cadpat, or UCP as they very seldom work well in any environment. Transitional camouflage like multicam works better in most environments than many specific, or environmental camouflages. Multicam also comes in a host of gear; pretty much endless options to be exact. Transitional camouflages can also be adorned with green or tan extras, and work well that way.

If you're new, it may be best to stick to easily obtainable patterns like multicam, cadpat, m81 etc... I run Flecktarn, and aside from the BDU itself, every other piece of gear is a real pain in the ass to find without ordering from the UK and paying 300 for a vest.
