A&K M249 Drum Magazine Problem

Hello,
So I have an A&K M249 which works perfectly when using an M4 mag but the stock drum mag is not working. When I got the gun used, the gun wasn't working but the drum mag seemed to be, as it was loading the bbs and turning on when I flipped the switch to AUTO or SOUND CONTROL. After the gun is fixed, the magazine now does not work. The gun only dry fires when the drum magazine is equipped. I have tried several sets of batteries but they do not work. The bbs are not fed to the top of the ammo feed or in the spring tube.

Is there some wire that could have been disconnected or some simple solution I do not know about? I have never handled an electric drum magazine before this so I am very ignorant about how they work.

Thanks for your help!

There is a walk through on fixing up the box mag. Make sure this is the issue you're seeing.

I don't think this is the issue. I would think if it were a jamming problem the gears would still turn. But right now it does not try to wind at all.

I am actually from California. Would you be able to give a quick overview of some basic things to check?
