Beta Project AK and CYMA M14 Socom Upgrade help
Hey all,
My name is Tristan and I'm an airsofter hailing from BC. I'm currently working on two project rifles (three if you include the already sturdy VFC SCAR-L I own. Though it shoots well, so I won't do anything yet to it), one is the Beta Project AK which I intend to make my main (once I get it shooting correctly that is) and the other is my DMR project, the CYMA M14 SOCOM. And I need your assistance because I have run into a few problems with both rifles. First, my Beta Project problems. Now I have run into a few problems already with my Beta Project AK. The first problem is the hop-up unit itself, which to me seems to be hit and miss all around. The hop-up slide that lets me adjust the range of the gun is loose to say the least and is prone to self adjustment when I fire in bursts of 3-5 rounds per trigger pull (even Semi-auto, and I do have a fast trigger finger). And, when using 25's, 28's--and to a degree, .30's, the shots tend to be all over the place, hitting everything around the target, and sometimes, by sheer dumb luck, the target itself. Now, I've put in a new guarder bucking, an Element H-hop and a Guarder inner barrel, but haven't yielded any better results. If anything, it just got worse as now I have to, quote on quote, warm up the gun before it starts shooting even remotely well with .30's (it under hops the first few shots, then after a warm-up, shoots correctly). I've done some diagnostic work, and the hop-up right now that I have may be a damaged unit (considering the play in the slide that makes it hard to be precise when adjusting my hop) so I may be in the market for a new hop-up chamber, and if push comes to shove (this is a project rifle) a new gearbox. Right now, what I have in the rifle is as follows... Stock Mechbox (CYMA brand I believe) Stock High-toque Motor (CYMA Blue bell) Guarder Inner Barrel Prommy Purple bucking Element H-nub And stock Hop-up chamber (CYMA) So, to round this all up, my question is, what should help me gain some more accuracy out of my Beta Project? With the stock settings, with thirties, I can hit targets at 200 feet, though no where near as accurately as I would like with such a heavy BB. I'm trying to avoid having to go over 400 feet if necessary. Though if I am forced into the position, I'll jump on the grenade then. Right now, I've been looking at different hop-up units and (if shoved) at gearboxes. King Arms Hop-up Chambers, Pro-win and Echo1 MAX CNC are on the short list currently (AK hop-up). Any builds I should be looking into for accuracy in particular? Any other hop-up units, etc.. As for the M14 SOCOM, that is another project DMR rifle (shooting 400-410 roughly at the end of this) and really, the only question I have is what would help achieve accuracy and range from this thing? The one I bought didn't seem to perform nearly as advertised with 28's (doubt 30's would help if it couldn't hop 25's or 28's). Got only 100 feet out before it died. Should I change the hop bucking/chamber, the barrel? I do know I will be replacing the motor, but what else should I look at? Any help would suffice. TL;DR. What parts would help me increase the accuracy and range of a CYMA AK, and M14? Sincerely, Tristan Wong Last edited by Mausturm; January 16th, 2013 at 16:32.. |
