JG AK not shooting....

Hello everyone, I'm needing some help in fixing my new(ish) JG AK Hybrid. Since the day that I got the gun it didn't seem to be firing, but I did find that pulling the mag towards myself that it would fire. Okay the gun can sorta fire but it really wasn't much help in a game, so I got the bright idea of ordering a BattleAxe mid cap mag for it.... well still not shooting.... I tried using tape like I heard from someone else... didn't help, now I am wondering if it has something to do with the Hop up but I'm no gun export so can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

so the gun cycles? but does not feed u mean? probably your mag not sitting high enough to touch the hop up chamber but if the gun isnt shooting at all as in NO SOUNDS means something up with ur GB or battery

velocity arms? I never tried them but try a different brand...I had success with Madbull and Bastards, ICS and some other brand kept jamming my GBBR

plus it doesn't require you to physically modify your AEG and if it doesn't solve your issue, you have BBs for later use

Sounds like your hopup isn't engaging the BB release retainer. It might just have to be filed down a few mm.

AK's generally have fewer feed problems because the mags lock in solidly unlike guns like AR's.

maybe the release nub needs some lubrication too
if it's a hi-cap, are you winding it?

Does it shoot if you turn the gun upside down?

By hybrid I'm going to assume you mean the black JG AK that is covered in picatinny rails.

I also have this exact JG AK and found the same problems, but worse. Mine had terrible or non-existent feeding, terrible compatibility with aftermarket gearboxes, is overly-sensitivite to changes in nozzles, etc. When I tried to fix the feeding problem, my compression went to 100fps. When I fixed the compression, it wouldn't feed.

It's all fixable.

What I found completely cured the problem for me was to shave the part of the outer barrel that enters the receiver down by a couple mm. Sounds crazy but it works.

This came about when I noticed that the gun fired absolutely fine when I had the entire front RIS and outer barrel taken off. You should test your AK by taking out the RIS, the outer barrel, and the front block that slides into the receiver. There are four screws under your receiver that come out and let you slide that block out. Fire your gun with just your inner barrel sticking out of the receiver. See if that works.

Then put the RIS back on slowly and before screwing it down see if slightly pushing it away from yourself during fire helps the feeding/compression. If it does, you should use my outer barrel fix above.

I think JG design is slightly off spec. Once fixed it runs fine though.

Yes it is the one with rails... thanks everyone for your help, I'm off for the day but when I return this evening I'll give these ideas a go.

If you haven't modified your JG AK yet, you should first try some of the mag modification strategies suggested above. It depends on what brands/fits of mags you've got though.

I did the same manual-feeding test. Turn gun upside down, drop in BB into hopup unit, dry fire once, turn gun over, aim, fire again. Check if you're firing reasonably fast down range (if you don't have a chrono).

Try removing the RIS. Flip the gun upside down and you'll see a single hex screw at the point where the RIS meets your receiver. Slide the whole RIS off along with the outer barrel. Now try putting in a mag and firing normally. See if this helps.

Also, what brand of AK mag are you using? I have found the CYMA thermold midcaps work well in this gun.
