ICS MP5 does not shoot
I have a new mp5, and while shooting ( couple of single shot followed by a 1 sec burst) it died on me. i have recently replaced two fuses, ohter that that there are no upgrades to the gun and the gearbox has not been opened. When i pull the trigger i see the fuse bending (which means there's juice goin' through it right?) but no moter sound, no gears moving or whatever normal sounds that come out of a gearbox. I suspect a damaged tappet plate as someone has mentioned an incident like this happening to him before. Any other theories you guys wanna contribute
p.s. it may not matter but after the gun stopped working, i noticed the grip (where the moter is) was slightly warm. not unbearable to hold and it might be normal but just in case its a factor... |

Well, my motor is NEVER warm normally, so that may be your problem right there. Yank it out and throw some power across it... see if it's working properly. The second thing is your battery... have you checked that out?

you mean if the battery is dead, or if it's messed up, or both
note to self, invest in multimeter |

For the love of christ, stop pulling the goddamn trigger. If things are getting warm, it means something's siezed and your motor and battery are probably on fire. Something is VERY wrong, and you should take it to a gun doctor.

How do you estimate 40%? Did your charger say it charged 1000mAh?
A 2400mAh 8.4V should be able to power any stock gun for thousands of rounds.

Not Warm
I have the same gun.
My heat sink does not even get warm, let alone the handle, and I work it pretty hard on full auto on a regular basis. This doesn't sound like a battery issue either. It sounds like jam. If the motor is jammed, and you apply power, the only thing you get is heat. ESPECIALLY if you don't even hear a hum when you pull the trigger. That motor is stuck and has turned into a heater. Bad juju... Tear it down or take it to the hospital....

i estimated the charge by time (discharged the battery using TM discharger for about 4-5 hrs, last full discharge took 8ish hrs)
I disasembled the gun to grearbox and body and noticed when i took off the motor (via heatsink) i heard the piston snap forward. could that have been the problem? the psiton getting stuck during full auto fire? |

Could Be
But a jammed piston will usually strip your gears.
If that is the case then you got lucky.... Does the motor run out of the gun?

That's what I meant... Take the motor out and throw it acoss power. If it goes fine, then most likely your box is seized up. If it doesn't run, then your motor is fucked.

update- the gun is working fine now, i hope. charged up the battery and let a couple of rounds fly, no noticable problems. I did not take apart the gearbox and inspect the gears so i do not know if there is any damage inside there (maybe in the future i will inspect it more thoughly)
thanks for the advice guys |
