G&G M4s Have you tried one?

A local hobby shop near me has G&G m4s for $200. One has the pnuematic blowback and one doesn't. I'm trying to find a decent out of the box gun for my brother and have already had a bad experience with the universally loved KAs m4. The G&G s seem heavier than my magpul m4 so there can't be too much plastic. The guy at the hobby shop says the guns are full metal -i'm not sure about that. So does anyone have experience with G&Gs?

everyone i know that owns a g&g loves it, the internals are great and externals are solid, great reliable guns of course you get what you pay for so the more expensive g&g guns are generally higher quality

G&G Regular line is metal, the ones you want to watch out for are the G&G "Combat Machine" line which is their lower tier line (and plastic bodied).

Even the combat machine lines.are pretty well made, just plastic. aside from how they are picky on what mags work in them they are great guns.

Just out of curiosity what problems specifically did you have with the KA m4?

Piston nead exploded after about 200 BBs. When i put it back together the motor was out of adjustment for some reason and shredded the bevel gear. The only thing left that i'm still using of the original mechbox is the spring.

I feel your frustration! When I bought my ka m4 it was shooting a measly 300fps out of the box. Tore it apart and found the piston seal was junk and I was getting zero compression. Put it back together and soon after was having the common KA problem of the gun firing full auto in semi mode. Tore it apart again and replaced the cut off lever. Also put in a bearing spring guide to take off some pressure.
I really dont have much bad to say about the gun as for the price I still think it is a good value and even though i had those few problems its running like a jem now!
But yeah its a PITA when you buy a new gun and it already needs work!

My first aeg was a tinted lower g&g m4. Still have it. Works good. Broke a piston head in it after ~ 4 months of gaming it every Sunday. Now sports a modify polycarbonate piston head & ascu but all else inside stock [m90 spring non stock though] & holding up well. even still has plastic lower painted still. Haven't gotten around to putting the metal body on it I have.

G&G's version 2 gearboxes are solid stuff. Radiusing around the cylinder window corners is a nice touch. They are decent guns and great for upgrading.

hmm KA gearbox shells are awesome from my experience, other than that everything i just throw out basically lol, even so KA's are universally loved because of their potential of being the ideal upgrade platform since its so cheap for a full metal AEG.

I've had bad experiences with all kinda of makes of AEGs so i never game anything stock. The moment i buy a new gun, it has to be fully upgraded internally right away. maybe thats why i have no issues haha.

G&G is still decent for their cheaper model lines the ones with the tinted lower arent too bad used one at a milsim back in vancouer once as well as a rental at UA here in toronto

Avoid the pneumatic blowback.
If it has a clear or smoked plastic lowers, be prepared to have it fail where the buffer tube intersects the lower receiver. Not all of them do this right away, but every on of them fails eventually.
If yours does fail, (try to find) buy a G&G metal lower, or prepare to do a lot of modification to get the G&G gearbox to fit properly.

Also, fit the cylinder head with a sorbo pad, or prepare for gearbox failure if you do a lot of sustained fire, as G&G's gearboxes tend to be strong, but brittle.

I like a lot of G&G products (metal MP5s, FNC, 'higher-end' stuff), but their Armalites (especially the lower-mid range) tend to be a bit frustrating with regards to body part/ gearbox fitment. It all depends on your expectations and how you deal with the problems at hand.

Edit: if you need to do swaps or replacements of anything internally, do not try to make CA parts work. It'll seem obvious why to some, but CA spec stuff will 100% not work without fuckery, trust me on this.
