CA B&T Mp5a2 - a good choice? alternatives
So my search for my first airsoft primary has led me to this. Theyre reasonably priced at around $300 and Ive heard it said that the CA are better than the ICS. My budget is actually anything below $500.00
I decided to go with the fixed stock as the mp5 is small enough for me and for the ability to throw another battery in there. Im looking for a metal, quality gun though and I wouldnt mind spending a bit more. What do you say group-think, is this a good call or are there better mp5 options for me out there? Also- Im not into the SD versions as my understanding is that a longer barrel does not = increased range or accuracy. is that a correct assumption? cheers! If it's a full metal version, then yes CA has one of the best MP5's out there.

thats what the site claims. thanks!
Also- it claims to shoot 380 fps. As Im pretty new to this thing is that gonna cause me any problems as far as rule restrictions go? |

No that's a great FPS to have.

It's perfect for an outside game but to high for most CQB sites. To many players forget that 400 fps is a limit, not a goal.

For the money, the metal B&T version is one if the better MP5's you can get your hands on.... This is for you Wildcard... but nothing compares to the TW5! |

380 is too hot for a CQB game, but lowering the speed is as simple as putting in a $10-$15 spring. Then you'll have both the strong speed for outdoors, and the weaker spring for indoors.
On an AEG, you shouldn't let the FPS deter you from the gun too much, since the cheapest way to alter the FPS is to just change the spring. |

cool- thanks. how easy is it to change the spring on these- am I gonna need to bring it in or would I be able to handle it? (reasonably handy)

Checkout YouTube videos on a v2 mechbox disassembly and assembly. Gauge for yourself if you are capable of doing a spring swap or not. It's not easy but it's not difficult if you are mechanically inclined and have lots of time to spare.

The G&G Umarex EBB is the best MP5 out there. Myself and a friend both use it and we get nothing but amazed faces and comments by our teammates and foes on the field. I have yet to see a better airsoft gun with own eyes. It shoots straight as an arrow with a very high rate of fire. It is very loud with a Sound Hog, so if you're going for stealth you will want to disable the electric blowback. Disassembly is child's play.
There's 3 versions. Fixed, Foldable and Retractable stock http://www.torontoairsoft.com/UMAREX...GG_p_1455.html Evike review Airsoft Evike.com- Umarex licensed H&K Mp5 A5 (EBB) manufactured by G&G - YouTube |

The Classic Army is probably excellent and for the price difference (at 322$) I'd probably go for that, even though I don't like the 60's style ROF selector. But as a starter, the G&G is a better choice in my view because it's like buying a fully pre-upgraded gun. And the electric blowback is just addictive. It's really up to you. both great choices. However the CA is out of stock on Toronto Airsoft.
One thing I didn't mention is that the G&G MP5 is feels heavier than a M4. I'm comparing with a modified(full metal rail system and shortened barrel) King Arms M4 that I own. It may not actually be heavier, but the weight distribution makes the MP5 much heavier on the firing hand. Also, as a starter, you may want to consider the fact that a MP5 with standard mags is very impractical when prone. I'm personnally looking to acquire short mags for outdoor games for that specific reason and because, as a medic, it would be easier to handle. Whatever happens, all that matters is that you love the weapon familly you are buying to begin with. Too often, AK, MP5, G36 fans buy the King Arms M4 that everyone recommends to start off and end up buying the gun they wanted all along a few months later just because they don't enjoy the AR family. Passion and a little reason are your best friends in this decision. Last edited by MonnoncMaxou; October 23rd, 2012 at 14:25.. |

Let me clarify The guy recommending the CA has been a member 5 years and is highly regarded here, The guy recommending the Umarex has been a member 5 months, i'm sure he's a good guy... but he doesn't have the same level of expertise. That being said buy which ever one you want - both companies have lemons sometimes~ you pay your money and take your chances
