If i don't play all that often...

Hey forum, i dont play airsoft all that often, only been to 2-3 games. All the times i've went, i only had a pistol and ended up renting a rifle from another player. Being a relatively poor uni student, i dont have a lot to spend on a rifle. I'm sorta stuck between getting an AEG or a bolt action springer. For the AEG, my main concern is the battery going flat. And for the springer, say like the CA M24 socom, i heard it needs a few upgrades before it can even shoot as well as an AEG. Ideally, i want to keep this thing under $400 What to do guys...

How much is "not a lot of money"? One battery should last you a whole game, as long as it's a decent one.

Save on each pay to buy a decent aeg rifle ( like an m4, a AK or a g36 ) , for 2 battery, a good charger, a average vest and some bb. For a kit like that it should shuffle around 450 and ull be set. Springer will cost more and wont be has polyvalent then the previous set-up

Sorry, forgot to edit it in. Around $400 would be ideal

Go for an AEG man. I wouldn't recommend you starting off with a bolt-action or any kind of sniper platform, its a money pit to get them to shoot accurate and with the consistency you'd need. You'll be more accurate with an AEG simply because you can put more rounds downrange.

Batteries will die eventually, its inevitable. Its good to have a spare when you go to games if one that you use goes dead. At the last game I discovered that both my batteries for my m4 don't seem to hold shit-all of a charge anymore...so now I need to buy new ones. You can prolong your battery life by getting a good charger.

Take a look at the retailers. There are several decent models of guns available for under 400 dollars.

M4 with 7.4volt Lipo's. Lipo's hold their charge, and are cheap enough that you can pick up two - 1 as back up. Done deal.

That could certainly be done under $400.00 used. Check the used guns sections, prices have come down.

I just got back in the game after a 2 year hiatus and am in the same position as you: a poor uni student. I also have the good grace to be a talented bargain hunter. I sold everything i had when I quit, so I don't have anything left. I just bought a very reliable AEG, on here in the classifieds, for 225$ shipped with 3 batteries and 4 mags.

Keep looking, there are deals on here.

buying new will ensure you don't end up with someone else's problem... on the cheap at 400, to make sure you get at least 1 extra mag and a battery with a charger that will last... 400$ is possible.

there's brand new new 200~$ g36s and a couple 7.4v lipos from hobbyking with a imax b6ac charger should go for about 70~ leaves a bit of room for goggles or something.. you should right in or around that 400$ mark all said and done.

I have a mix opinion about ares... replacement parts in the past have been hard to find, especially parts that are proprietary which more often than not are the ones that break.

KA m4 or TAS g36s are your best bet for that low of a cost.

the socom gear is a g&g I think and with g&p you're getting into more money. I have a fondness of v3 gearboxes... the ease of disassemble and service is far more attractive. I don't like v2s cause they're harder to work on. But that's just me.

Also, g&p gears can be flakey... so they could break on your first game, or they could last for a while.

The g&g/socom gear PWS has a v3 gearbox right?

So between the PWS, the masada by cybergun or m4a4 by CA, which would be best?
