We gbbr outer barrel compatibility
Piecing together some ideas for a build and I was wondering if there are any options that someone knows of to get a 20" outer barrel on a WE M4.
I know about the WA to WE outer barrel adapter, but I want to make sure that there aren't any alternative options first. Out of curiosity, would I be able to use a PTW outer barrel such as this? http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/in...oducts_id=8223 [IMG][/IMG]

You can't use a PTW barrel. WA or WE, you can use the WA without an adapter.

It's a WE GBBR, you need to use a WE barrel. No a PTW or AEG barrel will not work.

It's also possible to mod an AEG barrel to fit the WE M4. Look here.

Correct in me not wanting to use a triangle sight, but wont the lack of male tabs cause the outer barrel to rotate all the time?

The barrel nut should be secure enough that it'll prevent the barrel from rotating. Or use that adapter to add tabs.

I have mine spec'd at 40 ftlb. But this is on a steel barrel and RS upper, I don't recommend it if you are using an airsoft upper. But then again if your barrel freely rotates then you haven't tightened it enough

Plan on doing a RS build with either a DD or VLTOR upper. The steel barrel that you used was a WE or WA barrel?

Sorry for the necro, but I am currently looking at some different barrel options for a build I am doing. Finding something I know will fit with a WE receiver has proved a tad tiresome. Any help or direction some WEtards or gas fiends can give me?

I did mod an AEG barrel to fit.
Aluminum are easy to do, since they are really soft. Steel can also be done with more work, a good metal saw and file set. Or a mill. You need one that has the chamber molded in the barrel, and uses molded tabs, not set screws to keep it aligned. You "could" do it with a setscrew one, but then you would have to cut the hop-up chamber flush with the plate, and drill/tap two holes to re-install set screws to hold it aligned. Or really tighten your barrel nut, with metal shims, not a o-ring like stock WEs. |

Isn't there an adaptor that allows you to use WA barrels with the WE recievers. I am sure there is I will look around if I find it I'll edit it in here, unless someone else posts it.

Yeah I have seen the AEG mod, I would just like to avoid potentially butchering a perfectly fine barrel as this requires more than skimming a few layers off with a Dremel.
You would think WE would have made a receiver that can accept standard barrels, I digress. I'll search as well for that adapter. In the meantime, anyone got any other solutions?
