CA M24 mags?
Does anyone know if other brands fit?
The stock one is kind of flaky and I have seen full metal versions around that look like they would work. The Bravo MK 98 magazine "looks" the same but I am not sure. |

As a fellow owner of the CA M24 that was a major concern for me too. As you know the CA mags just don't match up to the feel of the gun. I know of guides on modifying aps2 style mags to fit. If you want more info you should go to "Airsoft Sniper Forum" and look under the Classic Army section. Lots of good info on what to do there.

The CA M24's magazine has a fragile and flimsy dual stacking follower. Also after the last shot, the bolt will ram into the magazine.
I have seen a metal m24 magazine but that only a metal shell. The feed mechanism is still the same. Last edited by SuperHog; September 17th, 2012 at 15:41.. |

Avoid ramming the bolt forward on the rifle, that's a good fix. And I used the same two mags for about 5 years, I glued a piece of brass to the top of each feed lip, and replace when I needed to. Kept those mags running well for years, and still are doing well.
APS2 mags fit, they are just a bit on the tight side. |

CDN_Stalker - Could you send me a picture of what you did?
With the APS2 mags, would a bit of sanding solve the too tight issue? |

Can't, don't have access to my rifle these days. Just take a piece of thin brass stock from the hobby shop, cut peices off to the size of the top of the feed lips, file and sand smooth, then use instant glue to put them on. Works very well, and while I have to replace the odd one a couple times per year, if you considered how many thousands of rounds I used to shoot through it every year (testing BBs, testing the rifle, shooting for fun, a mag or three during game days).....
Maybe, haven't had any APS2 mags, but to help pull the mags out I put a sticky backed cable tie holder on the bottom of my mags and a loop of gutted paracord so I hook my thumb through, trigger the latch and out the mag comes. Made for some pretty fast mag changes. I'll see about getting Testtube to take a couple pics and post them here, he uses my rifle these days because he plays, I'm in mostly retirement due to my knife making business. |

Good idea!
I am going to use a thin piece of lexan, which is use in retail blister packaging and glue that to the edges. |

Hey SuperHog, can you take a picture of what you do? Just want an idea of placement.

I have 2 aps mags and 1 actual CA m24 mag , the APS mags are only slightly different in size , similar to the difference in manufactures of m4 mags.
I have been using the same 3 mags for 10 years. I sanded a bit of the m24 mag well out so I could get a duct tape mag pull on the mag to pull it out of the gun easier. |

The membrane is so thin and brittle, it breaks off under normal use. I will be gluing thin lexan in place of this which is more durable than the factory plastic membrane. |

Mixed up some JB Weld and put a thin coat over the top.
Let's see how that holds up for now. |

The better solution, is that some one comes out with a new hop unit that allows for either a VSR10, M28 or APS2 magazines to be used which is more reliable than the M24 magazines.

Meh... if this works I am happy.
I also put a tab on the bottom of the magazine so I can easily pull them out quickly and cleanly with one hand! |
