Free float rail

Searched the forums but did not find what i was hoping to find in regards to my question.

I have the dd Free float lite rail 9" and was wondering if there is something to customize or purchase to add a bit more security for the barrel.

Im just a little worried playing a milsim or skirm and hitting an object or clumsiness on my part and smacking the barrel and causing some damge to the barrel or reciever.

I've fallen while running and landed muzzle first into a solid rock with zero damage to my kingarms M4 with a free float rail. So long as the receiver/barrel are quality you sould be fine unless you do something REAL serious.

Besides, if you want something to hold onto the barrel more why did you get a free float, the original M4 hand guards/slip in rails do exactly what you ask.

In all honesty, most metal receivers these days are pretty solid. Some more than others. I've run full-tilt, tripped on a rock and jammed my gun into the ground muzzle first and it seemed fine. Systema body and Madbull Noveske 1-piece outer barrel.

If you've got ham hands and/or just generally clumsy, I'd probably stick with the more reliable brands as the metallurgy in ACM guns are somewhat sub-par.

Something you can try is to configure your gun such that you have a suppressor or one of the Noveske KFHs that nests inside the rail system. That should take up some of the slack/impact if you do decide to take a dive.

Its actually the barrel wobble he is concerned about.

The barrel is only held on in place by two tiny allen screws that look like they could repair sunglasses. One on the left side - one on the right.

For whatever reason they keep coming loose from running and general play.

I was actually thinking about adding a top and bottom screw of the same size - I dont know how much of an option a gas block is because he has a customized g&g outerbarrel that had the triangle sight grinding off to make room for the 9" RIS - thus the loss in stability.

Edit: @Stealth it looks like your RIS system has some kind of end cap where the flashhider would go - his does not - its literally floating

Replace barrel with a one-piece unit.

If you have a metal receiver and shim it properly, it will be tight and snug. I have been running free-floats for a while, and the barrels took bad hits quite a few times.

If you buy quality, it won't be damaged. And wobble will disappear with a good barrel.
