Need custom work done.
Hey,
I was wondering if there are anyone here in the Mississauga, GTA or Waterloo area that is a machinist. I need someone to make a exact copy of the bolt inside my Shoei MG42 in aluminium. The bolt is currently made of brass and I am looking to switch it out for something made of a lighter metal so it can cycle faster.

The only machinist i know of is in the stoufville area, Carta tool and die. Steve the machinist there is a pure artist with a mill, not sure if he will be able to do it for you but if i was looking for anything like that he is who i would ask first.

i was hoping for something a bit more detailed, closer. that larger part seems to be made from 3 separate parts that have been welded/soldered together.
http://imageshack.us/f/188/mginternals3.jpg/ making it out of aluminum might require that some parts be tig welded. without actually looking at the parts, i can't say if i would be able to make a copy.

Just an idea, but since it runs of external air, couldn't you just increase the flow?

I will get more detail pictures on friday.
The gun is rated for something like 120-130 PSI. If I put it higher than it, the FPS goes really high and I think the internals will smash themselves to pieces.

Beefier recoil spring should do the trick.

Yea, but I was also afraid that might make the bolt smash into the front harder, again risking damage. If I had steel internals, that would work.

another option would be to short stroke the system if it can be made to do so.

You should check on classic airsoft if anyone has done what you want to do. ASC has a limited number of members who actually know about air systems. But like dynamo said, I wouldn't be able to advise unless I could see it all in person and observe how it operates.
One thing I like about the DG's I have is all the stainless steel. Swapping to a heavier spring makes things more fun. |

I have checked classic airsoft and completed a few of the mods they mentioned. Short stroking it was one of the ideas on classic airsoft too, but it causes feeding problems for me in that the nozzle won't go back far enough for the BBs to drop into the chamber.

Since we're talking about mods for this gun, if anybody knows or have a piece of aluminum that they don't need, please let me know. Dimension has to be or as close to 1.5" long X 1" wide X 0.5" thick. Thanks.
