Best Inner Barrels for accuracy

Hi Folks,

Learning at a face pace here - like to get in the game with both feet running

Inner barrels, doing a pile of research and looking at Canadian availability. From what TorontoAirsoft has on their online store, I'm looking at replacing the inner barrels in BOTH my guns:

KA Full Metal Colt M4
Socom Diablo

What brand that is going to come from TA as the most recommended, and, if TA isn't selling the most preferred brand by players, who is and what is that brand.

I'm looking to increase accuracy by getting the tight bore barrels, especially in the Diablo with it's shorter CQB barrel. It comes with a madbull tight bore, are there any better? Why are they better if so.

Thanks for taking the time to read this over

TK Twist for sub 350 FPS, Prometheus for everything else.

You may also want to look into upgrading your hop-up rubbers if you are seeking accuracy. A quality hop-up rubber setup paired with a mediocre barrel will shoot better than a high-quality barrel with a mediocre hop-up rubber setup.

Having said that, all else being equal, I've had great success with Madbull, Prometheus and recently, EdGI and Lonex (not available in Canada yet)

OK TK's for 350 and less and Prometheus for over - thanks! That makes a big difference on what to look for, as the lengths I need do vary

I am certainly going to replace the plastic hop up in Diablo. And I'm currently researching which pistons are in there as I want metal of some kind - plastic just seems all around like a bad idea.

While I'm in there I'm going to tweak the springs as well - I need to get the m4 around 450 fps for outdoor play and the a second spring for the Diablo to get it to that range if need be for back ups - and - another for the M4 to get it around a solid 350 if the diablo goes and i'm in CQB.

1 hop up - 2 barrels - 3 springs and possibly 2 pistons and I should have some solid performers.

I know there is a pile more to do - but getting things reliable steady and consistent is the first order of business.

might want to check with the local fields for FPS limits, 450 might not be allowed.

Hey thanks - good point - I thought I read the local outdoor was limited to 450 fps - not gonna break my back to hit it but certainly would like to hit the over 400 mark - a heavier bb and lower fps is fine in my books as well - I prefer accuracy over all else (see my diablo barrel wobble thread)

always best to check first, I know out here in Alberta the max limit for just about every field i've been on is 420fps, only one of my guns is 410, the rest are 350-390fps.

Always good advice - saves time aggravation and loss of field time to know ahead of schedule what the ROE are - Thanks!

In Ontario, outdoor fields generally max out at 400 fps for AEGs and GGBRs. Anything beyond is at the field operator's discretion. Also, at those FPSs, you really have to watch your MED before pulling the trigger.

Last year, a yahoo (ex-paintballer) opened up on me full auto at sub-20 ft with a hot gun (i.e., 450+ fps undowngraded) and left me with bleeders stitched in my arm and neck. I was pissed!

Remember, the field limit is NOT a GOAL - it's a LIMIT. It's better/safer to shoot sub-400 fps, than be turned away because you're shooting over.

As mentioned several times above...but just to reinforce...TK Twist is said to be great for sub-350fps. Prometheus is amazing for anything else. I would recommend the 6.03mm barrels (a compromise between accuracy and chance of jams). EdGI is rumoured to be the best, but they are very difficult to get your hands on, if not impossible depending on the length.

I think you need to do more research...

400 is the general limit for AEG. SOME fields will allow up to 450 if the gun is mechanically modified to be semi-lock (you cannot make it fire full auto in any way)

Metal pistons are the worst thing you can consider as an "upgrade". It adds a lot of innertia to the movement and will smash your mechbox shell to bits.
Also, aluminium pistons wear down a lot faster than most polycarbonate or nylon pistons.

Your plastic hop-up is probably all good. Don't change something unless it's broken.

In your case, I would buy a good quality hop-up rubber, madbull tightbore barrels (they are cheap and work alright), M110 spring for the Diablo and M120 for the M4.

Then run them until they break. And upgrade what broke at that time.

Also, if you still have only the hicap that came with the guns, a good 50$ would be 5x lowcaps (they are 68rns). They feed better and don't make a rattling noize when you run. It's a lot easier to hit people with a silent gun that shoots slow than a noizy gun that shoots hard.

Thanks Kos-Mos - I'll think about this advice!

Never thought the pistons would wreck the gear box - thats crazy!

Do you prefer getting a tennis ball in the face or a pool ball in the face?

Same thing for the mechbox.

Don't bother upgrading the barrel in your Diablo, it's already an upgraded tightbore barrel, so you don't really need to replace it. SOCOM Gear put only a couple true "upgrade parts" in this gun, and the barrel is one of them. Just FYI, SOCOM Gear and Madbull are under the same corporate umbrella.
