Making an M82 a GBB.
So, friends. I am soon going to be coming into posession of a snow wolf m82, and want very badly to convert it into a GBB mostly simply for funnies, but would like it to actually work. its been suggested i put in an m4 system, and i was wondering if anybody had any other ideas or suggestions or whatnot. cheers.

Converting an AEG to gas would mean a Daytona Gun kit or a Polar Star Gearbox. Both run external air though.

An alternative would be the GHK gas mechbox but you'd probably have a hard time making the M4 gas mags working in a M82 style magazine.

Depending on how the insides of the M82 kit is made, you could probably modify it to accept a GBBR M4.
I would go with a WE Open bolt, as the short VN/20rnd mags would be a LOT easier to fit in the M82 .50 magazine shell. Plus they are reliable once you upgraded the shit out of it. In your case, get a broken/for parts gun and when the receiver fits and only then, buy the internal upgrades. It will save you a lot of cash and possibly buying twice. |

Isn't the airsoft M82 just a reskinned M-16, I know the SOCOM Gear M82 uses a M4 mag inside a M82 shell, so a propane mag should work. Also just a thought, but wouldn't the WE M-14 be closer in terms of operating systems to the M82. Either way it sounds like an interesting project.

M82 is a closed-bolt fire system, like the M4 or M14.
But the AEGs M4 are shorter than GBBR/real, so you WILL have to modify the insides of the shell in order to fit the GBBR. It is possible, go with an M4 and take your time. |

GBBRs "Open Bolt" mention, isn't the same as the real firearms open bolts. Think of it as a "Open Chamber" design where the chamber isn't obstructed by anything, like GBB pistols.

Nope! If you have the creativity and some techincal know-how an AEG can be converted into a GBBR, there was one guy on here that converted an ACR AEG into a WE GBBR system, using SCAR guts. There are pictures and I believe a video of it in the GBBR thread

The snow wolf uses a v2 gearbox so you could probably drop a GHK - AEG to GBBR conversion kit in it. (shameless plug )

I've seen custom from scratch stuff that would make you cry it was so pretty. But none of them started out with a 2+2=4 kind of question. I think if you give advice you should try an set the guy up for success vs. a wild goose chase that results in another ad in the classifieds for a never finished project.
