Ares G36K or G&G F2000

Ok so I am deciding between 2 guns right now. Either the Ares G36k (Longer version) or the G&G F2000. They are both great guns but I was wondering which would

1. Perform better
2. Durability

I heard amazing things from the Ares G36 series but I don't know how it shows up against the G&G F2000

There are some other things you need to think of.

Magazines: The G36 uses proprietary magazines, meaning that you can't share mags with people who are running M4s or M16s. The F2000 uses STANAGs plain and simple. Of course, you could always find a STANAG Mag conversion for the G36, but it doesn't perform very good and it's hard to find a combinations of mags and adapters that work.

Aftermarket Support: There are many accessories and mods for a G36 model (unless of course, the ARES is proprietary, then that eliminates this), whereas (as far as I know), there aren't many things you can change or modify on the F2000.

Also, the K in G36K doesn't mean "longer", it actually stands for "Kurz", which means "Short". I think that you are comparing it to the G36C (C for Compact), which lacks the sighted handle and has a shorter stock and front end.

i have the ares g36k and it is the best g36 i have handled thus far ( ive owned and used quite a few)

it is also less bulky than the f2000

Just pick what looks and feels nicest to you, they're both very good guns. FYI the f2000 is a bit picky with the brand of stanag mags you can use without modification.

F2000 isn't a bad gun. It's an exotic taste not a lot of players have (since most prefer conventional guns over bullpups)

I suggest if you can, go to a local store or game and try out either guns though to get a feel for it.

I don't have an F2000 so I can't speak about it, but I have an Umarex (made by ARES) G36C and it's a really good gun for the price.

Pro's:
-Good construction (quality, solid plastic).
-The gearbox comes decently shimmed.
-There's a quick change feature for the spring that allows you to swap springs in a matter of seconds.
-There's a spring tension release feature that decompresses your spring for storage.
-Disassembly is very simple (2 pins and your gearbox/grip/trigger assembly is out of the gun); the barrel can then be swapped out with one twist.
-It has a blowback feature that can be disabled easily.
-Good consistency out of the box.

Con's:
-The only reall PITA about this gun is the mag. You can't use regular M4 mag pouches because the G36 mags are thicker and they have the little tabs that stick out to get in the way. I use Phatom Aggressor (elastic pouch) and they work great. Your other option is to get Magpul mags which are about the same size as the M4 mag (available at Ehobby). I haven't really had any feeding issues, except with high-caps.
-The hop-up unit is proprietary and I find that the stock plastic unit seems cheap. After a few months, I already see signs of some wear and tear at the nub opening when the adjustor ring rides. I have yet to find a metal version for replacement, but the plastic original one can be found. You can use common hop-up bucking without modifications.
-With the "K" version, I heard that the stock scope is useless. I have the "C" and I extended it with an aftermarket handguard so mine has a flat top with aftermarket red dot.

The iron sights were deleted since this shot was taken.

I'd say it's a question of feeling handling the gun. If you can get a grip on a F2000, try it out. I'd trust G&G because from my experience, they make reliable airsofts. And you've got there their top quality. So, for reliability, I'd take the F2000. But you pay for it.

Yea, the bullpup design is definitely more compact. When I crawl around for an extended time, I usually fold the stock because it just becomes too bulky to maneuver.

AS far as I can tell both hopups are proprietary, I have the f2000 and a G36c(VA not Ares), and I like both I have read some decent reviews about both, but the lack of a hopup replacement is a pain. I too have been thinking about the Ares as the next purchase, but waiting a bit for a hopup to be provided. G&G have yet to do so.
