need m4 help NOW!!!
So im having stress mating the upper and lower reciever together. cant get the upper to lower down onto the lower, is the process different from the plastic to the metal body, or am i not doing it right?
also, from the plastic body to the metal there is no spot to mount the piece that feed balls between the clip and the hop up. on my plastic body it was held on by screws on a flange, in the metal body theres nothing, not even the flange. pls help having a hernia over this! |

Oh.
My. God. If you read this message, STOP TRYING TO ASSEMBLE THE ARMALITE BACK TOGETHER THE WAY YOU DID WITH THE PLASTIC ONE! 1. Metal bodies are hella different in assembly. You should've received instructions somewhere in the package. 2. Metal bodies also usually come with one-piece hop-ups. You should've gotten that as well in the package. 3. PM or post here so that I can tell you more. 4. Metal body make and model, what the base gun is, and what you got in the package and what parts you have lying around would be a great help.

There should be two halves to your body - upper and lower. They DO NOT go back together like the plastic bodies do. You SHOULD have gotten a one-piece hop up unit that looks like a sideways capital T. It is essentially the hop unit and the feeding nozzle all rolled into one unit. Metal or plastic doesn't matter, but you SHOULD have gotten one when you bought it. If you don't have a one-piece hop unit, you better stop what you're doing and forget about the project until you find one. If you DO have that one-piece hop unit, do the following: 1. Assemble your new hop unit with the hop bucking and hop rubber from your old TM plastic unit along with the inner barrel. If you can't do this, I can explain further. 2. It is usually easier to assemble the front end of your gun (in this case, the M16A2 outer barrel) to the upper receiver first. So screw it in and lock it down. 3. Insert the new hop unit with the inner barrel into the upper receiver. There should be some bounce in the unit when you push it against the front upper receiver once it's seated properly. 4. Insert the gearbox behind the hop unit, all in the upper receiver. Be careful not to bend the body tabs while also not scraping up your gearbox. 5. Once you have the upper receiver with hop unit, inner barrel, and gearbox in, take the lower receiver and put it together - watch the trigger, the motor wires from the gearbox, and the battery wires. They all have to go in the corresponding holes. 6. Once you have the two halves together, put the furniture, etc. back in in this order: a. mag release assembly b. gearbox crosspin c. body pins d. pistol grip with motor 7. At this point your gun should be reassembled. Put the stock back on and your handguards, and you should be GTG. EDIT: Don't forget to put your BRL, selector switch, and trigger guard on the new body first. Make sure the BRL doesn't fall out when you manhandle the two halves together.

This is how a one peice hopup looks like if you don't know.
Usually, I slide the mechbox into the top receiver from the back of the body and then close the top and bottom receivers. The hopup unit has to be inserted first, before putting the mechbox in.

When inserting the mechbox from the back of the top receiver, you need to pull the charging handle over the small bum on the top of the mechbox. There's a groove on the bottom of the charging handle that the bum goes into. This prevents the charging handle from coming off if you pull it too long.

well groombug, thanks for your help, i would definatley still be scratching my head about this, I got it together and its working great. i cant believe how awsome a metal body makes the gun, its so solid and feels way more realistic. anybody who has an m16/4, get a metal body! you wont be dissapointed. there is no barrel wobble and no creaking..... so sweet.
now the only thing is with Bruces help, now I cant seem to get my charging handle assembly to function, seems too tight. is that a trade off, or something im not doing right. the mounting points for the return spring on the charging handle are not on the metal body as they are on the plastic one. anywho, thanks againg groombug, i owe you one. |
