Ok I just went ahead and used my spray parts brake cleaner, spraying a little on a gun cleaning patch and rub it on small areas of the slide and it works fine removing all lubricate and finger marks.

Oh God, acetone/ petroleum solvents.....
Every plastic and rubber part of that gun which has direct or weeping contact with the parts you sprayed is now utterly fucked. Please please only ever use SILICONE BASED oils and lubricants. Any petroleum or acetone based oils, lubricants, and solvents will soften and/ or eventually destroy plastics. Dude, you've got to strip and try cleaning that thing NOW as in like 4 hours ago. |

The slide is brushed aluminum not plastic, and I sprayed a little on a gun cleaning patches and wiped a little area on the slide at a time so no worries I did not screw my self or the gun. I have used this parts cleaner on my real guns before dura cote painting and you always strip down the gun real or not.The reason we use this before painting is it leaves no residue. My original question was an inquiry about anyone who has used a particular product to clean brushed aluminum. Thanks and rest easy |

What I'm confused about, is that anytime you use it you will rack the slide and get fingerprints/dirt/whatever on it. Not to mention every time you holster it.
Or is this just a wallhanger? |
