you'll need to use different delta ring and front barrel cap when switching from stock ris to aftermarket ras. aftermarket ras tends to copy real steel dimensions.

what is the demension on RIS and RAS systems?as in millimetres,,anyone know?the reason for my asking is that i notice some furniture for rails has different dimentions...ie. 30mm or 35mm...etc..

It's standard for all rails.

The 30mm and 35mm etc. dimensions are probably describing the inner diameter of scope/flashlight laser rings.

Is your RAS a FFRAS? FFRAS use a different delta ring, and barrel cap is not necessary. Are you using 1 piece barrel? If not, you better not to use FFRAS too as the barrel have to withstand all the weight without any support.
FFRAS stands for Free Floating RAS. |

im using an MT M4 RAS (free floating design, which i think means that the barrel does not contact the RAS)...which does not require the use of a delta ring,it attaches using its own "O" ring which is threaded to fit unto the m4 body.this piece also holds the the barrel.
my question is,if using a free floating RAS,should one stay away from using the barrel as a mount point (especially for a sling mount), since the RAS does not support the barrel, any pressure on the barrel would bend/deform it? edit: oh crap, went off topic...this should be in my other thread.anyways,20mm is the standard rail size for RAS/RIS.case closed.visit my other thread for other RAS/RIS stuff... :-P -Jr
