Custom CQB M4
Hello everyone.
I'm about to build a custom M4 for CQB however I'm not quite sure what upgrades to get internally and externally. My base gun is going to be a G&G CM16 Raider (CQB) Here are the limitations for my build:
Here are the things I have decided on already:
The aspects that I'm trying to achieve: Accuracy Fast trigger response Durability Gun never jamming on semi auto Comfort Lightweight I am going to be ordering parts from Redwolf. Lycan. Last edited by Lycanthrope; January 18th, 2012 at 01:36.. |

get HK sights!( if you really want flip up sights, get the MBUS)
Vltor low profile gas block 7 inch or 9 inch Noveske rails just long enough to hide the gas block and the tip of the barrel and that the rails almost touch the rails (almost like a Noveske Diplomat)

I'm a fan of the KAC 300M BUIS that comes standard with the M4 SOPMOD kit.
VFC Makes a nice licensed KAC BUIS, pair that up with say a barrel mounted KAC SR16 sight and you should be good to go for that. CQBR barrel is generally 10.3" (Mk18 Mod0). Madbull has Daniel Defense 10.3", 11.5", and 12.5" outer barrels. If you go with a 10.3" Mk18 outer barrel and mate it with a 260mm that should do the trick.

395 fps for CQB? Seems a bit extreme doesn't it?

I'm not sure about Canada however in New Zealand we play with those limits and it seems ok. Even being shot from a meter away doesn't really hurt.

It's really not that bad. We have something locally called terror tuesday which is a no/limited rules cqb game. Most of our rifles are firing around 400 and I honestly don't feel a difference.

I'm assuming your gun has a plastic receiver? If so, I wouldn't put any money upgrading it since in the end its plastic receiver will wear out faster, especially around the rail and threads. Save up for a gun with a nice metal receiver such as a G&P, King Arms, or a VFC. You'll be much more satisfied in the end.

I agree with THe_Silencer that plastic receivers are a bummer and that you should aim for a full metal receiver if you can. If you're already planning to do all these various upgrades, then you can afford a metal receiver. Change your plan to get one.
Having said that... The **-16 G&G gearboxes are actually really nice and I have sunk some cash and parts into one that came in a plastic receiver and it is doing just fine. If you are dead set on the plastic gun, know that the G&G mechbox will likely long outlive the receiver (heck, mine even has radiused cylinder window corners).
