Its a nice copy, but not identical to the original. The original is a lighter gray, and features wood grips, and comes with a TLR-2.

All the socom gear/WE replicas are off in some little aspect.

"Compatible with KJW CO2 magazine (Optional CO2 power)."
Woah! That's new! I didn't spot this earlier.

Ya but when you look at a picture of the real one compared to the Socom Gear one its a pretty noticable color difference. Doesnt bother me cause i like the darker color on the Socom Gear one, but for "1911 Purists" they will notice the difference.

Whether its based on WE or KJW its just a simple badge engineering job. The fact that one real steel 1911 is not that dissimilar to another means that its all the more important to get the little detail right. Guns like Novak Next have their special feature, like the elimination of grip safety, beveled slide and rackable slide without disengaging the thumb safety is what made it unique. Slapping the name on a regular WE/KJW 1911 is doing a disservice to the real thing...

Orange tip problem solved
First, I have to appologize to bring this tread back from the graves but I wanted to add to it in case someone was hesitating on purchasing this pistol because of the orange tip...
In regards to the orange tip, it is painted on, Socom Gear extended the outer barrel and painted it orange on top of it... now the best way is to cut were the line "joint" where the orange meets the silver part...then filed it flush to a 90 degree and sand it smooth...after finishing...use some masking tape and tape the edge and outer barrel surface and spray some chrome paint inside the outer barrel cavity to cover the rest of the orange paint that was left over...voila !!! orange tip problem solved and it looks like it suppose to... Next project... replace with a stainless steel Barrel Bushing, replace that inner barrel with a Prometheus 6.03mm barrel "with modification", and get some nice VZ grips along with some nice TORX screws...
