Custom AUG/F88 top rail anyone interested?
I have contacted Deadlydayne regarding a custom top rail for the CA/TM AUG railed versions. For those of you who don't know Dayne, he made a batch of replacement parts #27 for the WE SCAR wich is a pretty complicated part. Anyone who has a railed AUG knows how annoying the upper rail is. The slot spacing limits where on the rail you can mount stuff and often prevents you from being ably to mount what you want-where you want. Ideally I'd like to see a rail set up like the Australian F88 with a proper standard 1913 picatinny rail. I know there are a few aftermarket rail systems for the AUG but they are all "airsoft specials" and don't exist for real steel, and personally I think they all look like poo. We may also do a front grip rail modeled after the real steel version as well. If enough people show interest, Dayne will be willing to make some up. So if you think you might be interested or maybe another idea, please post your comments here.
Cheers. F88 pic for refence-top rail:http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=AUG+F8...h8JDjBg&zoom=1 The front rail would look similar to this:http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=aug+fr...Q74nfBg&zoom=1 Last edited by IRONSIGHT; August 18th, 2011 at 23:07.. Reason: info added |

There's a few airsoft versions of that one already but they are only an A3 "style" front and not an actual A3 upper. If There was an A3 upper I'd be all over it, but the airsoft fronts are too front heavy.

I can't believe no AUG A2 owners are interested in a proper top rail. Anybody? Looks like I'll have to get a one-off made up.

Here are Some pics of the Rail that Ironsight had me come up with. We decided to make the angle drop a 1/2" lower than the bottom of the rail so it drops behind the carry handle and stregthens the rail. Its Mil Std 1913 Picatinny Rail, CNC machined out of Billet Aluminum.

No, you will have to wait till Ironsight gets it. He sent me his Stock one and had me replicate it in a Picatinny version with the bigger drop.

First prototype mounted!
She needed a bit of tweeking as I had to mod my receiver slightly to fit this one, but that's only because Dayne didn't have an AUG to test fit it on. The V2 that he will be making soon will be a straight bolt on mod. Very nice work Dayne.

I've always hated the default rail on my TM AUG A2, how much does a custom rail like this cost?

I'm interested, as long as the price is manageable.
