AHN (Angled hopup nub) poll

I'd hate to do this (making sort of a duplicate post), but I'm not sure that I can add a poll to an existing thread. If an admin/mod could do this, that'd be swell, but otherwise...

I want to get your guys' opinion on the matter, as there are a few designs that are currently in the running. I'll pursue them all eventually, but this is going to be the one I focus on for the time being. I used a quarter ellipse-type shape for the front so the bb is accelerated more slowly at the beginning and to reduce slippage.

Option 1:

Somewhat modified drop in G-hop design (hopefully). It creates an flat area for the bb. Single point contact should theoretically reduce sidespin, and a flexible arm should reduce slippage

Option 2:

Self-centering, extended concave design. I'm unsure if this will work correctly, and the flexibility of the arm may be an issue. The concave begins at a larger radius and reduces to a 6mm radius arc, hopefully guiding the bb to the center and removing sidespin

I like the look of picture 2, if it was made of a squishy material.

Depending on where I put some stress release points, this could be somewhat squishy (it will flex)

Keep in mind, the internal bump on a hop-up rubber will completely fuck up all your designs.

What you should do is make a bump-less hop-up rubber. There's a market for that

Put the rubber on upside down?

I feel silly saying that :P

For now, I'm going to be testing with a shaved down/rotated systema bucking.

I considered molding this out of something like silicone, but I've never done that before. If I do, I will try making some molds for nubless buckings

Silicone has very poor tear resistance. Perhaps the worst of common elastomers. Even worse, it's prone to silicone oil absorption. Silicone oil (often used by players to wipe down a barrel) can absorb into silicone rubber which will swell it as well as reduce it's tear resistance further.

There are many castable urethane rubbers which are far more tear resistant than silicone rubber.

Global score is 14-4 in favor of option 2, currently.

I'm currently looking for tubing with similar sizes as buckings, where you can just cut it and stick it on the barrel, but no luck so far.
