HK MP5 A5 TAC Elite Airsoft Gun by umarex/ G&G
Does anyone own this smg? I can't seem to find a decent review online about it. I am considering buying it because it's full metal with trades in the A5 style I like with RIS. I thought somewhere I saw it was pneumatic blow back and not electric blow back but I can't seem to find that page again.
I have noticed that this model doesn't come with a top rail So i'd have to try and find the low pro (long) rail mount from G&G.( although the comparable G&G version does come with a mount (not sure if it's long or short) I'd like to get more info on it but can't seem to find any. Some places say it takes an 8.4V and other say a 9.6V. Could you fit a 9.6V into the hand guard? What about LI-PO? Are the internals beefy enough for it? Since the internals are G&G (i think), I'm sure I could upgrade them to get the fps over 350 as stated on the box if I find it doesn't have the punch for outdoor games. Here's the link from Umarex: http://www.umarexusa.com/product/HK-...Gun,217,74.htm thanks for any help or suggestions. |

It would fit either an 8.4v or 9.6v mini.
It evens says "Powered by 9.6V NiMH rechargeable battery (not included)" |

It's pneumatic blowback. A 9.6 or equivalent sized lipo will fit.

Yeah some sites said 8.4v others said 9.6v. There was a youtube vid for another G&G mp5 A5 that also took the battery(8.4v) in the hand guard and it had mentioned there wasn't much space to fit one and they had trouble getting it in.
I was assuming the 8.4 was a mini but was thinking the 9.6 would be a nunchuck (correct me if i'm wrong). As for the Li-poly, my question was more about the internals being able to handle more voltage of an 11.1v. Going with a 9.6v li-po I guess I couldn't go wrong but would like the increase to ROF and trigger response with the 11.1v. I assume this would have to do a lot with the gearbox, motor and spring but I have no idea what's in it. |

I was hoping this thread wouldn't get flamed because it had "elite" in the title... so far so good.
Damn you Umarex. *shakes fist* |

Batteries can be any shape you want. But I was talking about 8.4v packs like ===| and 9.6v packs like ====.
Those are both called mini packs. |

Thanks a lot. I prolly should have posted this in the noob section.

A 7.4v lipo should give you improved trigger response and not too high of a ROF; a bit higher than a mini 9.6v usually. Better trigger response can also be achieved via a better motor, a MOSFET, wiring, etc. And I wouldn't upgrade the spring too high over 350 FPS, G&G gears are brittle and weak and tend to be pretty terrible overall.

So I ordered my mp5 and I'm hoping to have it in the next 3 weeks. I can't wait to get it. I did have another question about this gun and figured I'd ask it in this thread instead of starting a new one.
On the right hand side of the gun there are 2 painted on warning labels. One on the upper and another on the lower by the fire selector. I'd like to know the best way to remove them. I don't want to have to paint the whole gun because I don't want to paint over the trades or fire selector markings. If I just paint over the warnings I'm scared I'll have a hard time getting a color match. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? ( I have used google as well as the asc search and found nothing) If I was wrong posting this here please let me know and I'll edit it and repost to suggested threads Last edited by Jcotter; March 26th, 2011 at 11:11.. |

Spraypaint Krylon black over it would seem to be the easiest method.

Thanks, I was thinking something like that. Just hope there isn't to much of a color difference between the spray paint and the rest of the body. I'd paint the whole thing but don't want to lose the trades and fire selector markings.
