A&K Svd Dragunov side mount compatibility

Hey guys, recently i just got my self the a&k svd Dragunov. I'm looking for a side mount, sadly im on a very tight budget. I saw a side mount for AK74mn (http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=24287)
i am wondering would this side mount fit on my svd?
Thanks for the help!

I might be wrong, but I believe that the SVD and the AK47 have different mounting rail styles on them.

I don't think that this items will mount properly onto a Dragunov SVD.

You should ask Amos that he thinks, he would know for sure.

Also you should ask Amos if he has one of these scope rail adators for an SVD that he can sell you. I remember about a year ago, he offered to sell me one for a good price. Check with him, he may still have it for sale.

Good luck

That's correct, A&K SVD has proper SVD mount, not AK style one. I just picked up real PSOP scope for it.

I picked up a 4 X 26 POSP type scope from http://www.futong.com/catalog/item/2129577/8030125.htm in Vancouver. It was on sale for $95 (50% off regular price of $190).

It is a perfect fit for the A & K SVD.

When installing the mount/scope onto the rail have the nut which compresses the spring quite loose and adjust it in very small increments. ie slide the mount on, close the clamp, if it slides take it off and repeat.Tedious but you will end up with a snug fit that doesn't stress the rail/mount assembly.

Pros .... it is sturdy
looks fantastic, just like the real one.
Red light on reticle works
Zoom works

Cons ..... elevation and windage don't work. They turn, click and move a small piston in and out .... but nothing happens.

No big deal ..... the A & K SVD is so bloody accurate I fire one round and then correct. I have fired the SVD so often I now just correct for the scope fault automatically on the first shot.

I paid $250 for the A & K SVD and $95 for the POSP scope ...... it was a great bargain for the closest I will ever get to owning a Dragunov.

Hi Proteus, I just got my A&K today and am having issues with the scope. What did you use to adjust that safety screw I don't have a tool that will fit the weird slot.

Also does anyone have experience with the PSOP? I just got it today and the illumination already stopped working. I've tried 2 sets of batteries that came with it to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated!

today i finally dissembled my A&k Svd but to my dismay, one of the screw that is holding the barrel to the receiver is stripped. I can not solve my barrel wobble and have to live with it. its irrelevant to the scope but just a heads up to you A&K svd owners.

I used a large flat head screwdriver to hold down the plate and spring and a smaller flat head to rotate the nut.

Thanks for the links!

damned knockoffs, when I unscrew the LED cap, I don't have the same thing as the repair link, all I seem to have is a long filament that is attached to nothing. Weird. I'll figure it out, thanks again.

The Chinese knockoff by AIM or ACM is just a copy of the POSP scope. From what I can see it is not a fully functioning copy of the original. It is cheap and very basic. For $95 it is ok. For 2+ that you can go for a real PSOP.

Ya I've read up on this scope :/ The gun came with it or I would never have purchased it. I am goinf to try to retrofit this one, otherwise I'll sell it and get a real one right from belarus.

Thanks for you help, its made this a less frustrating purchase.

Ya I think that we are going to have to face it, those $90.00 knock off SVD scopes are complete shit!

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=93033

The windage and elevation functions do not work on the damn things.

I thought that it was just the one that I bought, but now I see that they are all like this.

If you just want one for looks, I guess they would be okay, but if you actualy want to zero the scope in to hit a target, your better off going with the iron sights on the gun.

Lets hope others read this info before they go waste their money like we all did.

The thing is that the screw that holds the barrel is stripped...so theres no way i can get the barrel out i have to live with it...u get what u pay for. this gun is a very nice beginner's rifle and also a nice future wall hanger.
