Looking for new AEG Sniper platform
Hi guys,
I'm looking into getting an AEG for the winter time and know not much about them for all of my guns are GBB/GBBR. I want something with long range sniper with automatic as an option. I was thinking the TM G3 or maybe the TM M14. Which sniper grade gun would give me the best upgrades available and longest range. What dollar value should I be expecting to pay for something with 150~200 feet range. Also does anyone know if anyone resells new TM G3's? I'm also considering a CA. Let me know your thoughts. |

I had a G&P SAM-R this summer (squad advanced marksman rifle) and even all stock I got some kills at around 150-200 feet away with .28g
I don't know if it was shit luck but M16 / Sr-25 are good platforms to make an AEG sniper rifle IMO. As for a G3 or M14...I wouldn't be able to answer you !

Look up barrel lengths, i think theres a post in here with all the mm lengths, then pick one with a long barrel, that is hop up adjustable, and that break 375 fps. At this point, however, its really a DMR not a sniper.
If you want an AEG "Sniper" the Real Sword SVD is just about the best out there

TM m14 would be your best bet. It's a great platform to build on. My m14 meets all your reqirements. There are some for sale in the classifieds. Go check them out.

I would suggest the new King Arms DMR 556 its electric blow back and you might like it since you play gbb you have some sort of familiar recoil lol just a suggestion, other than that you can try the SPR series that G&P offers or just go with the m14 as the others have suggested, but the Real Sword SVD is one of the best AEGs snipers out in the market right now,

I've never heard of an AEG person before, but I know you can find lots of snipers who are certified on the boards.
If you are looking for a Sniper RIFLE, then there are many possibilities out there. The M14, Armalite and G3 Series being some of the most prominant. My personal recommendation is the TM M14 platform.

A sniper rifle by definition generally does not allow for automatic fire (bolt-actions for the great majority of sniper filfe / semi-auto can qualify as a sniper rifle in some cases - Dragunov arguably) since the main role of the sniper is to ensure an accurate and precise placement of bullets (BB in this case) at longer ranges. Thus, Full-Auto is incompatible with this role since it is not precise enough.
Basically any AEG with a long inner barrel can be made into a DMR platform with the right upgrades (optics are optional but recommended ) Hence you are looking for a DMR rifle. Arguably, the best DMR aeg would be the Real Sword SVD but again it is semi-auto only. M14, G3, M16, SR-25 might better suit your needs

K funny har har, everyone understands what he's trying to say.
I'd say go for a classic army G3, once they get properly upgraded they are BEASTS of a gun. |

Yeah I was looking into it a bit more. I could deal with semi fire only, but do not want a bolt action rifle. I looked into real sword SVD, but out of my price range. I wanted to spend under 1k + upgrades.
I was looking at the G3, I really like the look however the range doesn't seem to be nearly as goods as other long range weapons. What would be the top range I can get on a TM G3? Last edited by Thanh; December 5th, 2010 at 14:15.. |

Ok I hate to hijack the thread. But does it really matter if you use a m16 v2 mechbox or M14 v7 mechbox. Does it really matter since they all shoot the 6mm bb, I wondered if I had the almost same upgrades as a m14 to a m16. Does the m14 mechbox make the FPS more consistent or is the hopup design better etc.

I get a good 160 feet for a small grouping, and at least ~220 feet for a man sized grouping. On a calm windless day of course. Thats only on 0.25s :P

I'm going to be running a sniper game with a couple of my buddies on our private field. Most of them have springer snipers but with much larger range (300ft). I will most likely be using semi auto for far range battles. What is the longest barrel size for this gun? I can always hide the inner barrel with a tracer suppressor.
