Rail cover help
Hi All,
I have two upper receivers that I would like to put some covers on. They are both Daniel Defense Omega rails 7" and 9". I'm thinking of getting the Magpul XTM covers but can't figure out how many I need. Although all the "ads" say that one pack comes with 8 pieces (4 pairs) and would cover one side of a carbine, I can't figure it out how that would be :banghead: Also with these rails, they have two screws on each side and am not sure if the covers would fit over them. Any help/advice would be great. TIA |

Well traditional M4 handguards are 7" long, so go by that. If you needed to cover all 4 sides then I'd assume you need 4 packs.

Even though I have a starting point of how many "should" cover one side of the rail, I'm anal in that I want to know EXACTLY how many I need to be precise
If anyone has these on their gun, how many "slots" does one pair take up? |

My AEG isn't in my hands at the moment, but it takes 8 pieces to fully cover one side of a 7 inch rail. A 9 inch, you probably wouldn't get 100% coverage, the math just doesn't work out.

Yah, I finally found a video (shot show '09) where CC demo'd the covers and it shows that one pair roughly covers 3 slots and a little on each end.

The way Magpul sell those is that one bag is made for one side of a standard M4 handguard, which as noted, is 7". One pair takes up 3 slide, but also renders 2 more slot "unusable" |
