Well that price isn't surprising but confusing its almost the same price as a m249.

STAR UMP: $385
STAR M14: $718
STAR M249: $645
STAR M249P: $700

I guess you can expect a $550+USD on the G36s. My Predictions
G36K: $570~
G36: $600
SL9: $600
SL8: $650
All guesses...

I think earlier in this thread i said
"affordable and fieldworthy SA80".
Academy will only be field worthy after i spend another $500 on it. :banghead:

Considering the body is steel... thats a pretty good price guys. $630US is around $737CDN, which is just about on the dot for any assult rifle coming out from anyone these days (M14, G&G's armalite series, ICS armalite series). I'll reserve my final judgement for when we have some hands on expirence with them, but from the way things are sitting now, I've got my hopes up. Even if the only one I'd consider buying is the ultra compact

*edit*

Crap.. I did a straight US to CDN price comparison... I forgot to tack on the "your playing in Canada" tax... looks like they could very well be 1k+

Meh. I spent almost $2K on my AK, have seen and shot a G3 SG1 that was $2500. $1K isn't so bad when you figure the cost of any of the uber-l33t and desireable TOP guns, and it comes with a decent case (STAR's MSRP on the cases is $130 US)

It's only money. I'm getting one anyway. Don't forget to tack on another $200 for the SUSAT  .

Yeah, still way too pricey. It's only down 20 pounds, let's wait until it reaches about 600 CAD. Then, I'll consider it...

STAR now has the owner's manual and schematics online. It seems the A2 uses a custom SUB-C battery pack, and the other use an "all-cells-side-by-side" mini pack. Looks like the gun also has a spring-decocker built-in. JOY!
