get a KA M4 get it shimmed, buy a battery or 2 and a GOOD charger and it should cost around $300-350.

you can use the hi-cap that it comes with for a while. once you save up more, you can start picking up other things like a vest and mags

cheapbatterypacks.com sell decent batteries and good prices. and only NiCd have memory problems.

Most gearboxes benefit from opening them up, and checking to make sure that the gears are aligned and spinning optimally - shimming the gear-sets is part of that process.

g36s AKs, aug are v3

you want the king arms m4a1 if you are going that route.. it's the cheapest metal m4 that's of reasonable quality.

Honestly I wouldn't bother with doing anything at all.

Just buy a gun and play with it out of the box. The KA M4 comes highly recommended. You may need to change piston o-ring eventually cause they can be a bit flakey, and the cut off lever because they tend to wear out faster than normal, but other than those two problems they may or may not show up and it'll usually last you long enough anyways.

Buy a charger and some batteries from Hobby King. Honestly I bought a charger, power supply and 4 batteries for under $75 shipped to my door (I got the Turnigy T20 Pro PSU, Turnigy Accucel charger, and 4x 7.4V lipos and these lipos are dirt cheap).

Don't "bump" your own thread. It's just bad etiquette and also annoying and makes you look like a dunce.

Now that's done with, "lipo--ready" is just a marketing term. They're just batteries. Lipos can have the same power as a 9.6v NiMH, or you can have crazy powerful lipos that will destroy any gun, and any variation in between.

Here's my guide for buying a first gun that i wish i used.
Find a model, G36 m4 Mp5 Ak47 doesn't matter. Just make sure its an AEG.
if you're on a budget, look at brands like CYMA, JG, DBOYS or other clone companies. With the money you have left, pay a gun doc to re grease, shimm, and put in the spring you want. If you play outdoors, m110 (370 fps), if indoors, m100 (340 fps). I have to use an m90 (290 fps) for my CQB field. With the money you have left, ask your gundoc for internal recommendations and do it. Gundocs are pretty knowlegable about that kinda stuff.

As for the batteries, one up for the hobbyking. A 7.4 will not wreck your gun. Any gun is 7.4 lipo ready. You'll need a lipo charger. If you buy a cheap one, make sure you watch it when it charges.

for all intents and purposes you can treat a 7.4 lipo like a 9.6v nimh mini. Just pay the extra 2-3 bucks to get a lipo alarm and you'll be fine.. not to mention a good balance charger.

By reading the thread of the same subject lol

All stock AEG's can handle a 7.4v LiPo. There are some safety recommendations, but you could just run it without any mods to the gun.

Get the King Arms M4.

Don't get the Socom Gear and dont' get any G&P rifle at all. While they're cool guns, they are also money pits and/or either imperfect out of the box or downright defective, and you need a "smart" purchase right now.

I'm going to +1 this. Especially if the OP doesn't play very often and just wants something that is guaranteed to work pretty much all the time out of the box.

I'm actually a big fan of "Off the Shelf" stuff for most new players, especially if they don't have time to mess around with stuff. Hell I'm kind of trending towards that way too, I like messing around and tuning and stuff but at the same time I find I don't have as much time for that these days.
