M4 to a M249?

well.....if you want the easiest route to having a SAW...buy a HK416 variant. It is now the USMC Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR) which is replacing the 249. Not sure about the rationelle there but the 416 is a great weapon.

You could convert an M4 to a M249 but whats the point? If you miss something somewhere it'll blow up in your face and it probably cost as much as a regular M249

It works out that it's not really "replacing" the M249, it's really another club in the bag. They also managed to acquire it without a long nightmarish trial either vs. the way the US Army adopts new gear or weapons.

Must be a BATF mod, like the one where they convert a GBBR into a real assault rifle.
