AK-47/AK variant questions.
For a while now I have been enticed to move to an AK. V3 mechbox certainly a part of the equation, but I also just plain like "the look" of an AK.
I really like the RS Type56 but have concerns about compatibilty with aftermarket parts (TM compatibility). I would like an AK that can house a large8.4v battery in the stock if at all possible. I want full metal/wood or possibly full metal/black "plastic" I want something that I can upgrade/downgrade to shooot around 380-400fps (with 6.03 tightbore). I also want something that has a reliable hop-up or something that can have a reliable hop-up readily installed. I covet your experienced input and opinions. Thank you for the help.

Kalash. They are steel, <$500 and TM compatible.

1. Type 56 is the ultimate AK. Actually, I'd go as far as saying it's the ultimate AEG altogether, bar none. Externally speaking, it's compatible with real steel, but not TM. Internally, it's about 90% TM compatible. The mechbox shell itself is a modified V3 that's .5cm shorter to fit in a real steel receiver. Otherwise, internally all parts are compatible except the sector gear and piston which are both 1 tooth shorter than standard. Those parts are readily available on Redwolf should they be required. However, RS internals are hardened steel and shouldn't fail easily.
2. RS can't hold a large battery in the stock. Best you could do it a custom pack. Best it can hold is a custom battery in the stock, or a stick battery under the dust cover. That being said, you can easily fit up to a 12V stick battery under the dust cover. There's plenty of room. Personally, I'm considering ditching the 2/3A cell 1400 mAh in favour of a 2200 mAh 9.6 stick made from beefier 4/5A cells. That makes a huge difference. I tried plugging in my crane stock batteries (made form 4/5A cells) to the Type 56 and turns into a raging beast... 3. Lots of great choices here, but they're all equally hard to find - CA, ICS and VFC for the higher end, and DBoys / Kalash for lower end. All feature metal and wood. Although none come close to the look and feel of the Real Sword. 4. For the most part, you'll easily be able to upgrade any AK to 400-ish speeds. Some may require just a spring, while others may require more internal upgrades. Again, nod to the RS here. It comes with a 6.04mm tightbore stock, and totally reinforced internals. You're 1 spring away from 400 fps happiness. 5. Hopups are cheap and easy. For the most part, the "problematic" hopups refer to the $10 rubber. All are compatible. Not really an issue at all. Hope that helps.

Kalash are not steel, they are pot metal. I already test them. If it's steel then my managetic should work on them but it's not.
VFC AKS-74 U is steel made or the Unicorn also. KND

Yup. I've seen and tried Talraga's AKS74U and it's about as steel as they come, rust and all. Nice little gun for the money. I was quite impressed. Still not as solid as my Real Sword, but damn, I'd have no problem using that Kalash. Very impressive.

Good thing I am already in love with the RS Type56 That is my next gun, now I have to negotiate with my better half. Thank you for all the input.
@Crunchmeister - I'll have to look into the 4/5A cells. www.cheapbatterypacks.com I assume?

I would say if you feeling safe to use Lipo battery then grab a 11.1 stick Lipo. You will see how fast your turn to be and trigger respond is unbelievable but if you are not feel safe then Intellect 9.6 V stick battery would do the job.

Yup. A 9.6V stick built from 4/5A will last long, give you awesome rof and quick trigger response. They're more comparable to sub-C for discharge rate than 2/3A, only smaller and with lower capacity. And it would fit perfectly under the dust cover in a Real Sword. No need for a battery in the stock.

I don't understand one thing. You are talking about metal AEG like it was very easy to buy, just having to choose wich model you want... since they are not legal to import and that you very hardly see an RS in the classified... I wonder where you look

You get ahold of an importer or retailer with "connections" to get on in for you.
