Question about hop up.

Hi guys i have a G&G GR-16 the Armament version. It has a one piece hop up, bit its plastic. I took it apart to sand the magwell of the metal body I bought. I noticed that the hop up unit has a place for a spring, but there was no spring on it. Can someone else who owns a G&G M4 confirm for me whether it come with a spring for the hop up unit? Thanks.

Is it the spring on the top of the hop-up unit facing the front? If so, that is definitely supposed to be there.

Yeah thats it. I really don't remember seeing a spring there. I take my guns apart on a white towel so I don't loose parts and so I don't scratch the kitchen table. Is it possible to buy just a hop up spring then?

My bet is no. Never heard of anyone selling just that spring before. But, replacing the plastic hop-up unit with a quality metal one is a good idea anyways. Not entirely sure about the quality of G&G plastic 1 piece units, but there are very good quality aftermarket ones out there to purchase

that spring is easy to replace.

Just tape a pen, unscrew it, and take out the spring inside. It usually fits perfectly onto the hop up unit.

Hope that helps

Thanks man. I should have thought of that. By the way can anyone who owns a G&G confirm whether it comes with the spring on the hop up?

I honestly took mine apart and don't remember losing a spring but when I replaced the spring with a pen spring (took like 3 pens to get a good one that was the right size) it seemed that the accuracy and distance went up a bit vs no spring. But I don't remember losing one :P

So the airseal will be tighter with the spring. Good to know. I was let to beleive that the hop up unit on the G&G was shite. Maybe thats the CAS version.

Yeah with the spring in place, the hopup unit presses better back up against the mechbox and stays in proper position while firing. So you would get better consistency from shot to shot, since it will always be in the same position (well, very close to anyways). And you will get better airseal, so again, better consistency in your velocity, thus also giving you better range, and more consistent accuracy.

Mine didn't come with that spring either. No idea why they would leave it out. BUT mine is still on par with both of my other, upgraded, guns (range and accuracy so the missing spring causes no problems)
