Okay so the battery I'm using is new. I fully charged it until it was toasty warm not more than a week and a half ago and have not used it other than trying to get things working. Just to be sure today I charged it on the chargers highest setting. Suprisingly it took an hour to green light and get warm. Long story short, it's running with an impressive rate of fire. Which leads me into another problem that I'll start a new thread for...

Warm batteries during changing/use is normal, unless when it's melting

Just for reference, here's what was happening; the grip-end/motor-plate was not quite compatible with the grip I was using. It was tilting the motor at such an angle that the teeth weren't meshing properly, and bound up completely.
