Upgrading AKs
Hey I was just Wondering Something about Aks
I was doing some research and looking at brands and there are 2 brands of aks i found to be popular (I think) The TM brand wich is good and the kraken brand Not so good. For 1 I was wondering if the kraken Ak-47 wus build differently then the TM Ak because I was thinking of takeing a 180 dollar kraken Ak and upgrading the gear box ect and wutever else is needed to upgrade to make the gun more durable and shoot better. I was also wondering if youl could take the handle and the stock put wood on the kraken take the handle and put a tac handle on it or sumthing, and take the plastic see through body and put a metal body on. I understand all this is more expensive then just BUYING a gun but I want a project and i wanna build a gun i can call my own. So my main question is can i take a kraken ak and make it as good as a tm ak u know 350+ FPS accuret and durrable? If you are just going to flame me please dont reply and any help would be much apprieceated. If this is a stupid question I am sorry but I am new and very intrested in the sport Thanks for your time |

first off tm is plastic stock too and yes kraken is great for projects also cheeper since your objective is to make it into all metal and wood anyways and yes they are upgradable it just depends on what brand of parts your using for what your upgrades are they are tonn's of kraken threads that tell and show what parts are used to make it great and "pimped" out to the extream i made my first ak out of a kraken.

You can upgrade any gun to be as "the best gun on the field" but at what cost? It all depends on what you are trying to do.
I have an upgraded TM AK47, it has a lot of work done to it. It shoots 425fps w/ .20g BB @ 23bps. It gets an 18" grouping at 225 feet. It has 43,000 rounds through it and is still going strong. You asked if you could get a Kraken to be as accurate and as durable as a TM shooting 350fps. If you got a TM AK47 and put metal bushings, a steel bearing spring guide and a 140% or 150% spring in it, the TM AK could hit a man sized target consistently past 150 feet and will last for tens of thousands of rounds. I doubt you could get a Kraken to shoot that well for the same price. My upgraded TM AK47:
