Rail too thick

has anyone encountered having a rail that was too think to mount optics/stuff on?

i bought a JG hk416 (yeah yeah, "there's your problem, it's a JG"), and the main rail on the reciever is too thick to mount things on, but the rails on the RIS on the gun, the optics fit. (the whole front end, top, bottom and sides are good)

it sucked i just bought a heung eotech 553 and a 4x flip magnifyer, i hit the release to flip the magnifyer over and if flew off the gun, then i noticed the issue

############## ___________
the eotech's base is /#########\
############|# \###########/------<screw or lever to mount

#############|# ____________
and on the rail it's## /____________\_ (too wide)
############## \\##########/###/--------<

#################### ____________\#|#\
the optics that mount like ## /#############\________ this, will fit
#################### \#############/

any idea's? know how i can fix it aside from sanding and repainting?

or where i can buy a new rail that will fit?

# are just fillers to line up my l33t ascii art

When I've mounted optics, I've just sort of had to hammer it in place on the JG. Not exactly the best idea, though it does work if you're desperate enough.

The JG rails aren't exactly mil-spec on the receiver. Sanding would probably be your best bet for a permanent fix. You don't have to repaint since your optic will be covering the part you've sanded. Brute force sometimes works but be careful not to damage your optics and getting it off again can be a pain.

I have the exact same problem with my clone 553 and 4x magnifier on my CA m4. I took a stationary verticle belt sander (so I could get a nice clean, even sanding) and did the whole length of the top rail. I sanded down just ONE side of the body and the TOP tapered edge of that side. I have the same problem on my new CA SPR...back to the sander!
