battery dies way too fast
okay, i have a classic army slr105 i recently did an upgrade on it which included modify torque up gears, m120 spring, new piston head, new piston, and a bearing spring guide. For some reason the battery is dieing after about 1-2 hours of use. The shimming seems perfectly fine, its not tight or lose. I'm not sure if it might be the motor height? some help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. the battery im using is a 8.4v 2400 mah battery if that helps at all. Also the bushings do not have bearings and are extremely tight in the gear box. Im not sure if this is normal for a classic army gun

I suppose that the rifle shot just fine and all day before the upgrades?
You can tune the motor height...take off the grip and adjust the screw in the bottom of the motor cage. All the way up and the gun should jam (and probably pop your fuse at the same time if you hold the trigger down), too low and you'll hear that wild screeching noise. Somewhere in between you'll get a nice "quiet", "dead" sound. If possible, swap batteries with a buddy. Also, swap motors (you want a short neck motor)...I've seen at least 3 CA version 3 mechboxes that just didn't work well until the motor was swapped out (but that's too limited to say that you should definitely have to swap it out). Best of luck |

yea shot perfectly well before the upgrades. I guess the motor height is alright cause its not jamming and im not getting that high screaching sound which i was getting befor i adjusted it XD. Ill have to find a battery adapter or something i guess. Or switch to deans

m120 is a bit strong and 2400 mAh is not so big for such a spring.
if you spray a lot it's not surprising, especially if the battery is a cheap one. you won't get an amazing change from dean connectors unless the ones you have are damaged, oxyded or covered with oil. I'd try another battery, then another motor like m102404 said.

It's all about the gearing and load on the motor. I've seen 600mah mini batteries pull an M120 with Systema Torque-Up gears, so 2400mah should last you all day. I can run 7000+ rounds with an M130 (418 fps) and a 2400mah battery, I've done it.
The motor may be exceeding it's limit for effective use of current, but I doubt it. I would look at the rolling resistance of your gears again as well as free movement of the piston.

i guess i might have too. Its just strange because the gears have little play up and down but i can spin them with ease. Is there any real way to tell how well the height of the motor is adjusted ?

By sound. You adjust until the sound gets skreechy, then back off the screw a little bit. That will give you maximum gear mesh.
