M16 Selector switch : Stiff

Alright, I just finished adding a Dboys Metal body to my TM m16a2. But i've got two problems: The Selector switch is VERY hard to operate. lots of resistance from changing from safe, to semi and auto. The gearbox seems to fit in snugly except for when i applied the upper receiver to it, it seems as if the gearbox is way too big for the gun or something.

just sand down the selector switch, it's grinding against the gearbox

yah, sand it down bit by bit, and try it, dont sand too much cause ul fuck it up and make it loose.

If the top reciever is fitting bearly then look at the scratch marks it puts on ur mechbox, based on the scratches, sand down the apporopriate parts in the inner of the top reciever.

And take the disc out to sand it...don't sand it while the selector is mounted in the body. Tedious, but you won't mess up the fit between the disk and the lever. Then when you've got it just right (put the flora pin, rear pin, stock and grip on to make sure it's good)...then use a drop of blue (weak?) loctite on the screw that holds the disk on to the lever.

With some "big" mechboxes, I've almost sanded away 1/3rd of the dboys disk's thickness.

Or...

if you have the stock TM lever/disk from your conversion, use that...it might work just right without all the fuss. Compare the thickness of the dboys disk to the TM plastic one.

Best of luck, take your time.

Alright, thanks a ton! I just swapped the selector disks with the mauri one, and sanded off a mm or so along the top of the gearbox, now it works flawlessly.

i had the same problem , when i installed mine , what i did is ,i put the box in , then put the long bolt that goes thur the stock and kept it a little lose then sliding the other pins in place , i tighten the long bolt its seems more like an alignment issue

I'll have to disagree with you on that. Its more of a lack of space. Along the top of the gearbox there was too little room for the 'bolt' to move back since the spring was too fat. And the selector switch disk was too thick for the marui gearbox.

Just finished installing everything. Everything fits snug as a bug! Just need to get a battery and i'm good to go.

If it's still a little stiff...you'll want to put some loctite on the screw that holds the disk to the lever... With the extra force that you exert turning the lever, the disk will work itself loose pretty quick. Then you have to take the whole freakin thing apart just to tighten it up again.
