Removing the RIS from G&P M4
I have tried searching ASC using combinations of keywords, but it seems that I have been either stupid or unsuccessful in finding the answer to the following question:
"How do I remove the RIS from G&P M4 special force carbine?" The RIS is locked by the delta ring which is extremely tight and not movable somehow. I dare not to damage the gun, so I decided to come to ASC to find help. Other websites suggest loosening the delta ring, but it is common sense, not really helpful. If anyone has some experience, please kindly offer any advice. Thank you very much for your help and time. I would really appreciate them.

we had tried just about everything on mine...
I ended up putting a vert grip on the top rail and bottom rail..put it between my legs and twisted. Be careful, but that gave me enough torque to get it off in 10 seconds.

Make sure to remove the front sight and take the gas tube with it. Then do like SINN says, and you should be OK. If not, you can buy an armourer's wrench for about $30 from a number of online places or check a local gun shop that sells AR parts and accessories.

For the delta ring, you can use those rubber strap wrenches for opening tough pickle jars lol
Worked great for me! As SINN said, use a vert grip on the top part of the RIS while trying to move that nut. The G&P special force has a special barrel nut which REQUIRES an armorers wrench to be removed, but you shouldn't have to play with the barrel nut to move the RIS. |
